Cruz returns to Washington, warns of 'volcanic anger'

Former Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz returned to his job in the U.S. Senate on Tuesday with a warning to Washington that the turbulent primary race was a wake-up call.

"All across this country people are hungry for change. This election cycle should be a wake-up call to Washington, D.C.," the senator from Texas said outside his office. "The frustration and volcanic anger with Washington was echoed throughout this election."

Presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump and Democratic U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders have upended expectations in their respective presidential campaigns, tapping into voter anger at establishment politicians in Washington. Cruz, a favorite of the conservative Tea Party movement, also tried to position himself as an outsider.

However, he dropped out of the Republican race a week ago after a crushing loss in Indiana and a brutal campaign in which Trump attacked Cruz's wife and father and constantly derided the senator as "Lyin' Ted."

Cruz ruled out a third-party candidacy, and said the democratic process had run its course............

Cruz may be hoping to put his conservative imprint on the party's July 18-21 national convention in Cleveland.

On Monday, he said he would not release delegates he had won in Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas, according to news reports.

Cruz is not going away:

https://www.texastribune.org/2016/05/10/heidi-cruz-likens-husbands-efforts-slavery/

And look at this quote by Heidi:

At multiple points, Heidi Cruz suggested her husband’s political operation would remain robust as he heads back to the Senate, where he is planning what she called an “enormous agenda.”

“We are not only keeping this band together, we have been having meetings five hours a day since the time we dropped out,” she said. “Every single person in our leadership team in our campaign, Ted and I will probably be working with on a weekly basis in the next four years.”

They sound like a wise and noble person. ;)

Sorry, it just gets a bit tiring to see so many Freepers acting worse than DU folks. Trump won, Cruz goes back to DC to share his thoughts on voter anger, which helps Trump, and Trump folks feel the need to attack him for it, even though he isn't even in the race anymore. It's not only a violation of Reagan's 11th Amendment, but it is also an open attack on anyone who supported Cruz. You won, Trumpsters. Enjoy it and move on. Maybe learn some grace along the way. Jeez!

at least he gets it. There are plenty who still look around and think the american people want business as usual. The Sanders/Trump populist movement should be showing these bozos in Washington......government better work for us, or we will blow it up....regardless of party.

Cruz is not going away:

Do we expect him to leave the Senate and stop fighting for Conservative Causes altogether? Only Trump staffers shall be allowed to hold Congressional seats now? What?

Having his delegates vote as a block on conservative issues is good for the country.

A reasonable person would think so, yes.

‘Volcanic anger’ won’t begin to describe the anger that will take place if the people’s choice, Donald, is cheated out of the noninatiion.

"The frustration and volcanic anger with Washington was echoed throughout this election."

Step aside Cruz, you're part of the problem.

OK, I see you are on a hair trigger.

Cruz is planning for 2020. Read Heidi’s quotes in the article.

You don’t hold five hour a day meetings for nothing.

And by the way, Cruz is not a Christian, a conservative or a constitutionalist.

He has proven himself a fraud in all three categories.

You may resume your hero-worship now.

Very perceptive Reno. If Glenn Beck or Glenn Beck cultists are representative of Cruz delegates than there will be a problem with the platform. He lost and should have been out of the race a long time a go.

You can’t have him representing the face of the party. He needs to stand down and not encourage any major detours from the 2012 platform.

Cruz is hurting and not helping the party every time he speaks.

I’m a potential Trump delegate and if I do get the opportunity to go, anything Cruz or a Cruz delegate suggests will get an immediate No from me. It is not their show.

I don’t have any doubt Cruz is scheming for a divisive convention to damage Trump and day dreams that he will be the center of attention there. One thing I’ve noticed about Cruz: Cruz thinks it’s always about him. That won’t be changing anytime soon.

I’ms ick of this BS that Trump attacked Ted’s wife and father. The Cruz camp attacked Melania first and Ted’s dad went after Trump. He hit back. I wish to God, these people would report the truth.
