What grates me is people buying up hundreds of dollars of T-Bones, Ribeyes, Strip Loins, etc on food stamps while I have to bargain shop.I shop the sales.

I "clip" electronic coupons.

I plan the rewards program at the store.

Saturday, I spent 1-1/2 hours BEFORE shopping.

I built shelves in a bedroom that is now a large pantry.

90% of what I buy is on sale.

90% of what we eat, is out of the pantry. Most of the time, I have whatever I need for a meal, on hand. Meals most of the time are planned by what's on hand.

Come Thanksgiving/Christmas, that's when the good sales happen. That's when the bulk of my shopping happens. Stock up on things for the year.

All that requires a lot of work and planning.

I don't complain about what I eat. I eat fairly well. But that's because I work at it.

I can't stand slugs, living off food stamps, eating better than me.
And then complain about stuff.

I recall the time when there was a narrow bandwidth of food you could purchase with food stamps. Change due after your purchase? You got penny candy.

Absolutely nothing imported. Made in the USA only!

The fraud within the system is staggering. I know how the woman feels when I stand behind foreigners with food stamps and a car MUCH, MUCH newer than my 13 year old (American made) Honda.

One reason why I avoid Walmart like the plague; the pleasant clientele.

What state do you live in where they give families hundreds of dollars each month in food stamps? That could be part of your problem right there.

I would think if he were actually working 50-60 hours a week, he’d be making too much to qualify for food stamps.

That would depend on his hourly pay and the size of his family.

Hmmm... OK. Then the man should -- assuming he's able-bodied -- should do his best to increase his skill level so he can move up the ladder to a higher-paying job.

If he really is working hard, and still needs a little help feeding his family, I can respect that much more than paying for the millions of lay-abouts and illegals who collect our tax dollars while not even attempting get out of bed to look for a job.

Has no idea you say... maybe since he apparently works at minimum wage it’s coming from his too. This is perhaps just a way of getting more of what he had worked for in the first place!

He might have pointed out to the self righteous hellion that the system will be there for her too if she needs it and she’d change her tune real quick at a “You’re fired.”

So he shouldn’t ever be there at all?

Unless he's getting paid under the table...

!! Thank you. Great post.

To others, show some f#@*ing compassion freepers! Or do you like living the stereotype of heartless money-grubbing racist a-holes??

I was on food stamps when my youngest was born, after about 2 years, I got a good job and didn’t need them. I tell you what I would have had this self-righteous bitch in tears before I left wal-mart. Take the log out of your own eye before you go judging others.

I haven't set foot in a Walmart in 6 or 7 years, but a long time ago, I was in line at one, buying a couple of boxes of .38 Special ammo. Some guy in the next line started making fun of what I was wearing, a hat in the Leatherneck Tartan.

Tartan, not 'plaid'. Anyway, I looked right at him and asked, 'Do you really think it's a good idea to f*ck with someone who is buying ammunition?' He shut up and left pretty quickly.

Or, earning under the table, which is stealing from the system to say the obvious.

Sometimes FR does seem to turn into “The Joy Of Judging.” Maybe some of this is out of frustration. But some of it is like mental masturbation.

I don't follow you...?

I don't condone the "self-righteous hellion", by the way. Nobody knows what circumstances the man is living through.

The only general comment I would make, is that this represents a government usurpation of the role that churches used to be known as playing in the realm of charity.

This isn’t a new trend; FDR drummed up support for Social Security through the churches of the time.

But it is spiritually unwise, since it has placed an officially godless agency in a place that charitable churches used to occupy. This was one means by which the gospel was lived out, and churches let Uncle Whoever do it for them. Not wise.

“Exactly... Billions to corporate fat cats good, welfare bad.”

I guess in some peoples eyes in this TV Star world, EVERY dam thing is polarized, black versus white, corporate versus personal. Either you are for Trump or your batchit crazy, on and on.

BOTH kinds of welfare at the same time can be BAD. mental midgets out there roaming the spittle grounds...

He may not be eligible. It's fairly common for food stamp recipients to sell their food stamps for penny's on the dollar so they can have cash to buy cigarettes and booze. I've seen people offering to buy food stamps/WICC cards when they're getting ready to go grocery shopping.

Yes, Boston-based conservative talk radio host Howie Carr talks about this stuff going on in Massachusetts constantly. This kind of crap needs to stop.

True, this is abuse... it really ought to be tied to a state ID.
