Inside Cruz’s camp, confidence crumbles

BURLINGAME, Calif. — Ted Cruz is speaking confidently about knocking off Donald Trump to take the GOP nomination, but his top staffers admit they’re getting nervous.

In interviews, several aides, speaking on the condition of anonymity, expressed growing alarm that Cruz would lose Indiana’s primary on Tuesday — an outcome that would be a major blow to his hopes of holding Trump below the 1,237 delegates needed to clinch the GOP nomination on the party convention’s first ballot. The aides concede that, without a win in an Indiana primary where 57 delegates are at stake, Cruz’s shot at the nomination would significantly narrow.

Within the campaign, some are turning to the question of what’s next. One senior aide said there had been no discussion about dropping out before the final primary contests are held on June 7 but noted that Cruz wouldn’t be eager to prolong a campaign he was convinced he couldn’t win.

He hasn’t been able to win for at least a few weeks, so he should drop out already. I guess when you’re spending other peoples money, you just do so until it runs out.

The GOPE doesn't want Cruz to drop out. If Cruz drops out, his delegates become unbound, and some might just turn Trump.

He’s not telegenic.

At all.

He should have had it fixed before entering politics like Hussein and Michelle did.

I don’t think Cruz is a big drinker but he is an incipient Pillsbury Doughboy. Dude looks like he never exercises.

He may or may not be a big drinker at this moment, but he does have a history and both of his parents have had problems. Those of us who come from families with members who have had trouble with alcohol recognize his set of behaviors.

Absolutely.

Cruz thought he could draft in Trumps wake, and pick up the pieces. Playing the same losing game with the delegates.

“He wont drop out. As long as the attention is towards him he will continue. Will drag everyoone down with him.

A pure narcissist.”

Bears repeating.

Good Lord. You publish ONE poll from a previously unheard-of polling org (who last had work in 2011) and you tell US that WE are something else.

I will rejoice when you go the way of other TDS sufferers, and are zotted.

“The poll that took them two weeks to poll 400 people?”

Probably 1 guy and his secretary making the calls.

...by which is meant, he'll be finished, mathematically, regardless of what the smoke-filled-room-wannabees among the old GOP hands have been saying.

Quite a demotion from Presidential candidate. Which is why I predict he won’t finish his term.

Get real. McCain didn't quit the Senate when he lost. Kerry didn't quit the Senate when he lost. Cruz will go back to the Senate and continue opposing liberal policies.

Calling Trump a liberal is pathetic and stupid.

Calling him a conservative is flat out wrong.

What would you call somebody who stated that self deportation was a cruel and stupid policy? An illegal hawk or a liberal?

Ted Cruz is speaking confidently about knocking off Donald Trump

He's been eating purple berries for six or seven weeks now.

>>Calling him a conservative is flat out wrong.<<

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I did not call Trump a conservative. That’s not for me to say. I heard Rush state that even he is not a conservative anymore, as the term has been co-opted by an industry of consultants, publications and pundits who make their living off being the “Keepers of the flame.”

I simply state that calling Trump a liberal despite all his non-liberal policies (lower taxes, lower regulations, strong military, strong borders, anti-global warming agenda etc.) is SIMPLY FALSE.

If one has to be pro-NATO (globalist DoD) or pro PPT (Trade Surrender) to be “Conservative,” then who needs it?
