BURLINGAME, Calif. -- Hundreds of anti-Donald Trump protesters crowded the streets near the Hyatt Regency in Burlingame as the presidential candidate arrived for the Republican convention.

A man wearing a Trump campaign "Make America Great Again" red hat was struck while being jostled by a group of shouting protesters.

"It went gangbusters. They attacked me," said Chris Conway, who identified himself as mortgage broker from San Mateo.

A dozen protesters linked arms to block the road in front of the hotel near San Francisco International Airport, but no one was using the street because police had already closed it to traffic. Protesters also draped a large "Stop Hate" banner outside the hotel.

After Trump took the podium, he described having to take a complicated detour to get into the venue due to the rowdy protesters outside.

"That was not the easiest entrance I've ever made... it felt like I was crossing the border actually," he said.

Barricades were set up Thursday night around the Hyatt Regency, where organizers were excited that Trump was kicking off the convention. But if it's anything like Southern California's events, it could be a wild weekend.

About 20 people were arrested by Costa Mesa police Thursday night as Trump protesters and supporters took to the streets outside Orange County Fairgrounds, where the Republican presidential candidate was speaking....

At one point, seven shirtless women wearing Bernie Sanders stickers over their breasts entered the square outside the amphitheater. They said they were protesting Trump's lack of engagement on issues of gender equality and women's rights.

In Burlingame, police have spent a month planning and asked for help from every agency in the county and also state and federal officials.

Donald Trump was set to speak around 12:45 p.m. John Kasich is scheduled to speak in the evening,...

These mobs are out of control nationwide. We are losing America to a small group of hired thugs, many of them foreign.

Unless we start confronting these bastards with the same tactics they are using, we will lose. We look like cowering wimps. It's time to bring it to theses assholes.

If it weren’t for all of the cameras there I think they would’ve been dead meat.

Get incidents on videotape; sue the perpetrators; find out under oath if any were paid by a Soros front; work the lawsuit back to those pockets (they don’t come any deeper).

In the 60s the powers that be sent in officers who weren’t afraid to dent some heads.

They put an end to it.

These protest today are meeting with some success, because the media describes them as simply using their civil rights.

Nobody has the right to injure others, destroy public and or private property. Nobody has a right to deny another person to address the public, or that public to hear them speak.

There are many infractions being broken, but they are being broken by permission.

Law enforcement is allowing them to do it, mostly without cost to the individuals doing it.

Further, any payment for illegal activity is illegal itself.

The benefactor is inciting to riot, to perpetrate civil disobedience.

That’s is actionable. Further, Soros is here as a gesture of good will by the U. S. government. He was accepted into our nation and needs to abide by the rules here.

He swore to do so. Failing to do so, he should be subject to being deported and his citizenship revoked.

As for this being anarchy, I think of anarchy as something that takes place when the government is powerless to stop it.

We have the manpower and ability to stop this dead in it’s tracks. It’s civil disobedience by permission.

That may be anarchy, but it’s not what I generally think of as anarchy.

To me anarchy is more appropriate a term when the government and local civil service has completely collapsed.

Our civil service hasn’t collapsed. It’s standing by and watching without taking action, it could easily take.

Those crowds are not that large. You’ve got a few hundred hooligans with free reign.

They should be circled, arrested to the last man, and placed in prison for a few years.

They are each part of an unlawful assembly that is committing a list of crimes, and so each person should be chargeable for those crimes, they are as a group committing.

Imagine how the media would have spun something like this if the Tea Party had disrupted any of Obama’s campaign stops in ‘08 or ‘12. Just imagine what they would have said about the Tea Party but since it's leftist democrat radical disruptors they're fine with it.

Every identifiable person in any of those videos should at a minimum lose all access to social services benefits. If they can riot, they can work.

You won’t see any Cruz or Kasich supporters getting their face bloodied. That is because those footing the bill for their rent-a-mob are spending their money on the front runner. If any other candidate emerges, they will have their protesters ready for them too. It is time for all to unite and oppose these instigators. It is time to expose who is paying for the rent-a-mobs.

Your correction is correct. If you find video of the protesters you will see signs that say End Capitalism, Socialism Now, etc.

Any Justice Department worth it’s salt would have found out what is taking place here, and put and end to it
and it’s promoters long before now.

But this one is running a protection racket for the financier and his paid thug trouble makers.

I’ll leave that open to interpretation, but I believe it’s more likely inept civil management of a situation.

They don’t want to be seen as cracking heads, so they stand back and hope for the best.

None the less, that does put people at risk, and I believe that includes Trump.

The S. S. will only put up with so much though. These people try anything real against Trump, and they’ll be dead very quickly.

If that was my wife and I in our car and I heard the threat/discussion about torching the car, I would have concluded that we were about to die, and I might have very well come out of that car with a shotgun.

You’re right.

That is going to end, and I think Trump may be the guy that tells his Justice Department to clean house.

I expect to see a lot of careers end in at the Justice Department when new management comes in.

It won’t be the only place either.

Trump is just nasty enough to slash massive parts of this corrupted bureaucracy.
