Champagne delivered mail in Pennsauken. Prosecutors say he admitted stealing 72 U.S. Department of the Treasury checks totaling $443,000 and giving them to other people, who weren't named in court documents. Fishman says those people paid Champagne $50 per stolen check in 2014.
Each charge carries a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison. Sentencing is Aug. 3.

Who the hell gives a child a name like that?
That's his last name. His first name is "Earl", which actually isn't so bad.

What is this “refund” that you speak of? I consider a tax refund as giving the government an interest free loan. I would rather owe the feds around $200 every April 15th.

I asked during a job interview (part-time) would you like a voided check? Guy said “Why”. I said you just gave me a job, how are you gonna pay? He said something like PayChexRus. No direct deposit. I said ‘Thanks, but no thanks.’ and walked out.

<>The problem is that this carrier obviously had Champagne taste.<>
Only if your idea of good taste and risking prison is selling 72 checks for fifty bucks each.

So you won’t take a job where the company gives you a check and doesn’t have direct deposit capabilities???

How about a name like Ladasha. Spelled “L-a”.
No, I am not kidding.

That was my question. People still get refunds? I usually owe. I refuse to loan this government money all year at 0 interest.

You would really, really have to be an absolute flaming moron to commit mail theft for $50 an instance.Unless of course one check was for $439,000 amd the rest were for about $50 apiece.

Curious, I googled and found a company called PayChex. They did not in turn, at the time, support the direct deposit operation? I would have researched, or asked for the literature. It would be illogical for a major payroll outsourcer NOT to support this.
