Republicans who supported other candidates in the primaries are told that they should unify behind Trump. That will not happen if he continues to disrespect them and their candidates.

That is certainly true. The reverse is also.

Won't unify? So I guess they're leaning toward Hillary ....that is to say, this Hillary.

"I am delighted to be here in these new headquarters......it’s good to have an outpost of the Council right here down the street from the State Department. We get a lot of advice from the CFR, so this will mean I won’t have far to go to be told what we should be doing and how we should think about the future."

Mr. Trump, the Republican front-runner in the presidential race, mocked his conservative critics and his current and former rivals as dumb, “disgusting” and losers.

Talk about an editorialized quote! This NYTimes reporter quotes a single word. One might surmise the writer has a slant they want to push in this editorial masquerading as news.

This is good news.

Trump will hurt himself in the general hanging out with typical Republican place holders.

Romney buddying up with McCain,Rubio & Jeb during the general was disgusting.

“Republicans who supported other candidates in the primaries are told that they should unify behind Trump.”
They should. Lyin’ Ted is the only candidate who insults the other candidate’s supporters.

I’ve never heard Trump insult Cruz supporters or anyone’s supporters.

Unless you count dozens of writers at National Review who Trump refuses to curl up in a ball to.

What’s he meant to do to conservative pundits. Commend them every time they make an attack on Trump?

The article misrepresents Trumps remarks as to, in fact be a lie.

I suggest you look up his actual speech on YouTube

He mocks what needs to be mocked. Cruz has alienated the Congress (both houses) and a lot of his base by his antics while trying to keep his hands clean of all the controversial stuff. Trump rolls up his sleeves and dives right in like a working man...

Many people respect what Trump is doing and feel the same way about those he mocks.

It's a 2 way street, start respecting him and he will start respecting them.

It depends what “Republican unity” means. If it means Trump plus tens of millions of voters from every party and he doesn’t get that, then of course he loses; but that’s not happening. If it means Trump is not “unified” with some GOPe ash holes - so what?

What Trump is saying is for every purist, like you who stays home,
your vote will be replaced with a Reagan democrat, or a Hispanic
or a black man or woman.

You purist will get what you always get. Nothing.

I heard this. Apparently Trump is really running as a third, perhaps more reasonable candidate, in the Democrat party.

Not really surprised.

The problem is-It's been proven over and over and over that when voters are given the chpice between a moderate Republican and Democrat- they will choose the actual Democrat EVERY SINGLE TIME.

What is downright depressing is that much of FR is going to have to learn this all over again too :(

” But the continuing attacks from other Republicans plainly rankle him, and he appears to have little appetite to make peace with his critics”

And honestly I don’t disagree with him on that. Cruz and Kasich need to drop out.

Why did Trump have to go under a fence & through a fence to get to the convention? Because we keep sending too many "conservative Republicans" to Washington who won't do a damn thing about the border. How many of those "conservative Republicans" would have gotten out of their car & run the gauntlet like Trump? Or would they have set in their car with their tail between their legs.

I'd rather have someone who is going to clean up this country rather than the conservatives I have been voting for.

This is a case where ridicule is warranted. Obstinate hubris must be confronted and broken.

But, at some point there must be an olive branch, humbly offered.

Why do we have to get this slanted BS from the NYT here on FR? We, of all places, should get straight, unbiased news, from a loyal, unbiased, patriotic source.

This is a veiled threat by Trump.

What will happen to the #NeverTrump crowd if Trump actually wins the presidency?

They will be in Siberia—political Siberia.

They have underestimated Trump’s ability to win at every step. They have overestimated their ability to stop Trump at every step.

They need to think twice about what life in political Siberia will be like, because that is where they will end up if they stay their course.
