This is from a few weeks ago but it is interesting to watch the New York Times hoping that the huge amounts spent on negative ads against Trump would destroy his candidacy.
The MSM and the GOPe coordinated with the anti-Trump PACs as there were article after article saying that Trump was unelectable. The accepted wisdom by the media and the political class was that Trump was finished. That he could never win.
The American people disagreed.

“The American people disagreed.”
Well there is an old saying, that the “customer is always right.”

No kidding. I figured this must be old. The more they do this the more it helps Trump.

Look to the track record of these negative attack ads. 55,000 so far and Trump leads by 420 delegates. 15,000 attacks ads in Florida and Trump won by a huge landslide.
The attack ads are unarguably counter productive.

What a surprise! I hadn’t noticed. Plus the Corrupt Leftist Media have been writing articles and editorials attacking Trump by the thousands, and no one even has to pay for them. People like Maggie Haberman do it for free. Or, maybe, for a bit of pork and bribery.

Just a drop in the bucket compared to the fall campaign.
Just imagine if half of that money had been spent to support conservatives running for congress and the senate instead of being blown on useless ads.

When the electorate is angry at the powers that be, the more the powers that be attack the person they perceive as taking them on, the better the person being attacked will do.
This is simple psychology, and he fact the GOPe et al thinks they can derail Trump by attacking him shows just how out of touch with reality they are.
These guys are crooks and theives and they are stealing your country.... And they hate me and will do anything to stop me because I am telling the truth.... then those folks go.. The guy telling you that is a bad bad man... and the man just says, See I told you so! And his poll numbers go up another 5 points.

The NYT has an audio tape interview with Mr. Trump that I expect them to use to hammer him with a few weeks before Election Day in November.
