Gannett, so link only: http://www.democratandchronicle.com/story/news/politics/blogs/vote-up/2016/04/27/state-funded-air-conditioners-available-ny/83610332/
Suffice it to say, the gist of the article is that NYS will now be paying for people on welfare with "medical conditions" to get free (taxpayer funded) air conditioners.
Yes. Sad to say, in my hometown, I see it more and more each day.
Our fed govt, in the interests of protecting “Mother Gaia” has issued many rules and regulations driving up the price of HVAC units.
Awwwwww.
A box fan costs about $25.
If the taxpayer buys every freakin’ material thing for the gibmedats, then what do they have to spend their disability and unemployment checks on?
Oh, right. Manicures, weaves, lotto, cigarettes, 40s, blunts, blow, bling, wine, Air Jordans, grills, a killa ride with mega bass subwoofers, etc etc etc.
They sure have! I honestly don’t know how people can afford to fork out several thousand for a unit.
Remember when we all tsk tsk’d at France for letting all those old people die in a heat wave?
“They sure have! I honestly dont know how people can afford to fork out several thousand for a unit.”
And then there’s all those CFC’s in the damned things just waiting to leak out and destroy the ozone layer.
There are only two seasons in New York, Winter and July.
When Donald Trump becomes President, I’m going to recommend that free A/C be rescinded in NY, and be replaced with a free bathing suit and a bus ticket to Lake George!
Vote for Bernie!!!
that’s 53 grand total- per person that works out to 13 grand apiece- which is i believe the thresh-hold for poverty for a single person
Ha, ha....not a chance I would vote for Bernie.
NEXT !
while i’m not for people who are healthy and living on welfare receiving anything really0- even their welfare- except for times of extreme hardship as a ‘boost to help get them back working again’- The fact is that many poor people who have serious medical conditions do succumb to heat every year- many medical conditions make people in already weakened conditions susceptible to death by heat- and many do die from extreme heat- unfortunately
HOWEVER, it should be relatively easy enough to identify these at risk people and help just them while telling able bodied peeps to go pound sand-
Unfortunately, as a state program, the President has little say over this nonsense.
Yep- As I mentioned, that is exactly what needs to happen- doctor’s prescription only AND make sure Docs are just prescribing htem to anyone who simply asks- hold them accountable- like we do when docs prescribe pain meds now (it’s becoming harder and harder for docs to give out pain meds- We’re not quite where we need to be yet, but they are making it harder)
Try not to be so serious. It was all tongue-in-cheek jocular din.
These days, given some of the crazier Trumpkins here, you can never be sure when one might be joking or not. ;-)
The 1995 Chicago heat wave was a heat wave which led to 739 heat-related deaths in Chicago over a period of five days.
