Suffice it to say, the gist of the article is that NYS will now be paying for people on welfare with "medical conditions" to get free (taxpayer funded) air conditioners.

Wow 52 grand a year threshold. Must be nice to have a wealthy state that can be so kind and generous.
All they need is us white guys to write the check.

So the normal people can’t afford one, but the solid democrat voting block gets one.
The country is already socialist. It’s just that most people don’t realize it. Most Americans are hard-working people who don’t want a handout. They don’t realize that the government exists to take their money and to hand it to indolent slobs who faithfully vote and contribute democrat.
More people die from heat related illness than from hurricanes, earthquakes, tornados, lightning, and flooding combined. Air conditioners are cheap compared to the costs that would otherwise be incurred.
I struggled to earn 52 grand for a lot of years. I did not have A/C for most of them, and when I finally did get it, it was a hand-me-down window unit from a relative.

To be fair, upstate, a lot of the welfare bums ARE white guys.

Ah, what the hell, we pay for junkies to travel to get the methadone that they spit out (or worse) on the street and sell to a worse degenerate to score the good stuff, so why not air conditioners?
According to the state guidelines someone in the household also needs to be medically eligible as well and the maximum benefit is $800 including installation. Last year less than 4500 households participated.

Looks like the "medical condition" is not too difficult to meet.
Risk factors that will be considered for any heat related emergency may include anyone age 65 and older or 4 years old and younger. As well as individuals with a chronic medical or psychiatric condition which may include congested heart failure, chronic obstructed pulmonary disorder, diabetes, and dementia. And anyone with limited mobility, confined to a bed or on medications that may affect the maintenance of a steady body temperature regardless of changes in the environment.

LOLOL!!! Except the end of June thru mid-September when it does get humid and we have those dust storms.
AC’s are not cheap...my parents had to get a new one a few years ago...just under $10k.
