24% Opt Out of a Clinton-Trump Race [1000 LVs Trump 38% Clinton 38% Rasmussen]
Rasmussen Reports ^ | Thursday, April 28, 2016

Nearly one-in-four voters say they will stay home or vote third party if Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are the major party presidential candidates.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely U.S. Voters finds Trump and Clinton tied at 38% each. But 16% say they would vote for some other candidate if the presidential election comes down to those two, while six percent (6%) would stay home. Only two percent (2%) are undecided given those options. (To see survey question wording...

"It is a poll of likely voters, the ones who usually do show up."

OR rather it's a poll of people who SAY they are likely voters.

Amen bro!

That leaves 76%, mostly in the middle

Guess who’s got the middle fired up and in his pocket?

So I guess the Uniparty already has a third party candidate picked out and ready to go. My only question is can they get on all fifty state ballots at this late stage? This seems to be the last realistic option to derail Trump by taking enough votes from him to ensure Hillary’s victory. I don’t think the GOPe will go the contested convention route and risk an up and down ballot wipeout of the party with the possibility of losing control of Congress.

Hill’s 38% support is low for a DEM and spells disaster.

Only about 60% of the population that can vote, does vote in Presidential elections.... Of anyone who is considered a likely voter sits out, they will be replaced by someone who’s become motivated to vote for the first time in a while.

I trust nothing about polling for an event 7 months in the future as to telling you where things will be then. They tell you where things are now, not where they will end up.

I predict you will see typical if not slightly above typical overall turnout in the fall.

Libertarian candidates always take away from Republican candidates, never Democrat candidates. Democrats lose votes to Green Party candidates.

I don’t believe that many on Republican side. I would believe this could happen if Trump has the nomination stolen from him; but since that is not going to happen this is a nothingburger. There is just nowhere near the enthusiasm for Cruz or Kasich and way too much hunger to stop Hillary Clinton for that number of Republicans to stay home. On the Democrat side I can easily see some staying home because they are emotionally wedded to sanders and don’t like Clinton. The 38/38 is probably the most plausible lie they could tell. Rasmussen is long gone and it is owned by new people.

Nothing to see here more along folks.

The question is how many GOPe-rs will vote for Hillary and how many #neverhillary-ers will vote for Trump. I know a Bern-er who said she will vote for Trump to spite Hillary.

There’s liberal libertarians and conservative libertarians, but mostly they just want government out of their business. They also want our government to mind it’s own business in world affairs, which, for Bernie supporters, if they know anything about Hillary, should help Trump more than Hillary. Bernie supporters also want free stuff from the government which is not a libertarian point, and although Trump is no Bernie when it comes to free stuff, he hasn’t made cutting social programs a big issue either.

Ha,

My staying home and not voting is more important than your staying home and not voting.

Is not

Is so

Better than 1 in 3 always stay home.

Guess it’s time for those who have been pointing to prior polls showing Hillary ahead to announce that polls are inaccurate and don’t mean anything.

The TV Debates between the two candidates will be interesting and will bring out some of those “I won’t vote folks”.

Take a guess who will come over better in a one-on-one debate...:^)

Which puts him, what, 200% ahead of Romney’s election night numbers? And Hillary’s still a huge percentage down on all demographics for those who voted for Obama?

Yep, yep, Democrats can’t wait for Trump to be named nominee, as it will be an absolute blowout for Hillary... (eyeroll)

I don’t believe them.

They’ll see they are losing and they’ll switch to one of the 2 major party candidates by the end.
