On Monday afternoon, KERA News' Krys Boyd sat down with Sen. John Cornyn in the Hart Senate Office Building to talk about new legislation he’s sponsoring, Donald Trump — and Ted Cruz, his Texas colleague in the Senate who's running for president.

Here’s an excerpt from their conversation. Read the full story at KERA News.

This disaster onus election is going to haunt Cruz in 2018. I hope they find a conservative to primary Cruz and get his sorry butt out of the senate.

We all knew that already, Senator Cornyn.

Ted Cruz was every bit as calculating as I ever thought Hillary Clinton to be, but smarter. Except Hillary never burned a bridge in her life time, from Welesly College forward. (I never spell that correctly.)

Cruz seems to have left a trail of loathing. (Including Cornyn.)

The bags weren’t set down in the Cruz senate office, before he had that power-for-more thing going.

TRUMP fumbled around and gave Cruz a hell of a two, three year running start on this delegate replacement “process” and still TRUMP, late as he is, can pull this off on the force of his character and that take it or leave it authenticity.

My Alpha Male.

TRUMP 2016

<< So much for Cruz being GOPe. Apparently, the GOPe didn’t get the memo. >>

No way.

It was personal. The detestation for Cruz has been legendary, quite separated from his new “conservative” claim.

There is no trail of Cruz even be particularly religious, until he picked Texas to land in and saw that TEA Party train roll through and rode that baby all the way to the US Senate. (With only 4% of the Texas vote.)

He used his signature tactic, holding Dewhurst under 50% for the run off and pulled off the run off election, with my happy vote.

Whatever his personal motives, Cruz voted conservatively. Cornyn doesn’t.

And Cornyn went to Washington to be a Democrat.

Actually Ted won 1 delegate in Rhode Island. Kasich also won 5 in Rhode Island, and Trump only got 8 in Rhode Island. This even though Trump received 53.8% to Kasich’s 24.4%, & Ted’s 10.4%. Ted came in 2nd in only Pa. with 21.6%, Trump with 56.8% (93% reporting at this time) & Kasich with 19.4%. So far Trump has picked up 108 delegates, Kasich 5, and Cruz 1 in tonight’s primaries..

Actually Ted won 1 delegate in Rhode Island.

I'd take Amanda Carpenter over that one delegate. (Just kidding.)

cRuz’s problem is that he’s not liked by anyone....the GOPe, the conservatives, the evangelicals (Trump’s winning evangelicals), the hispanics....and the general population.

He doesn’t even have a handful of endorsements, in the Senate.

Folks just aren’t in to untrusTED.

Certainly no fan of John Cornyn, however, he is correct about Ted Cruz. He only went there to make a name for himself to run for President. I think he wanted to model himself after Obama, but as the anti-Obama.

His plan was to be unlike the other Republicans who sold out at the drop of a hat, but alas it was only an act. An act designed to secure the conservative vote. Certainly had me fooled, until he started campaigning for the job. It was then that I started to realize that it was all an act with Ted. The longer he continues to be an obstructionist, merely for the sake of a longshot that wouldn't be for him anyway, the more people will begin to see him for the phony that he is.

(With only 4% of the Texas vote.)

Voter turnout for runoffs in Texas is typically 2%-ish.

Is that right? Cruz voted conservatively.

I am overtaken by his theatrics I guess, and therefore only remember his legislative record for his devastating TPA vote, his H1-B1 vote for foreign workers (wanting to quintuple the number), his Corker Bill vote on Iran, his engaging recommendation for pathways to legalization for the invaders and his unconvincing interest in protecting our southern border, or only dully going after the millions already here, who have “fundamentally transformed our population” by squatting.

Can’t think where he ever legislatively harmed a single real advance of the GOPE/Wall Street agenda for a North American Union.

The political universe of Heidi is not comforting, the globalist bundler, assisting with the architecture of the North America Community paper, while a VP for and sponsored by Goldman Sachs, in an attempt to turn that agenda into a Julie Andrews song like the Sound of Music. Just sayin’.

The shadows closed in on Cruz with me, a long time ago.

I have not trusTED for ions, it seems.

4% of a state vote is a near tragic number stone to take you to the White House, with but a pit stop in the US senate. Same with Obama.

Yes, Cruz voted conservatively.

I predict many around here will be singing the praises of TPA when President Trump needs it for his great trade deals. They’ll be thankful that the Democrats can’t attach amendments to stop Trump’s negotiations. You watch. It’ll happen.

So much for Cruz being GOPe. Apparently, the GOPe didn’t get the memo.

Ted never was GOPe. They hate Ted too.. They only used him in an effort to block Trump.

You may be correct, however, while TPP may well retain it’s name, under TRUMP it will have to be so reconstructed to meet his financial security goals for the USA, that it may be quite unrecognizable from the free form it represents today.

Jeff Sessions is all over this partnership deal and both he and TRUMP abhor its present form.

We’re weren’t talking about TPP. We were talking about TPA, which affects every international trade deal made while TPA is in effect.

TPA will be a big hit with President Trump.
