Trump: I would change GOP platform on abortion
CNN ^ | 04/21/16 | David Wright

Donald Trump said Thursday he would change the Republican Party platform's position on abortion to include exceptions for rape, incest and the life of the mother.

Trump made the remarks during a town hall on the "Today" show on NBC on Thursday morning when host Savannah Guthrie asked him about abortion exceptions.

"The Republican platform every four years has a provision that states that the right of the unborn child should not be infringed," Guthrie said. "And it makes no exceptions for rape, for incest, for the life of the mother. Would you want to change the Republican platform to include the (abortion) exceptions that you have?"

"Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Absolutely," Trump said. "For the three exceptions, I would."

Currently, the Republican platform abortion policy reads: "We assert the sanctity of human life and affirm that the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed."

Alright.

So, lets make abortion illegal and punish the mother for killing it under any circumstances.

The St. Cruz zealots recoiled in horror at such as suggestion!

If Trump’s abortion position is liberal so are 95% of the Republicans in Congress. They all have these exceptions whether you like them or not. I believe in no exceptions to abortion, but you don’t get elected in this country unless you say you have exceptions for rape, incest and life of the mother. And every single one of these politicians will tell you how “pro-life” they are. JEB Bush claims he’s a Catholic but threw his faith under the bus with his exceptions for abortion. During the debates he was never asked why he went against the Catholic Church on murdering the unborn.

Yes, things a President can actually do, not just talk about!

There’s more to life than politicians saying the right thing be they a Cruz or a Trump.

And what does this have to do with what a President can actually do about it?

Abortion is legal.

When Trump saying that if it were made illegal, the mother would be punished, all the phony pro-life responded with horror.

“If Trump’s abortion position is liberal so are 95% of the Republicans in Congress.”

But I thought you guys hated the Republicans in Congress so why are you willing to accept Trump's position if he's just going along withe Establishment?

Do we have a huge incest problem in this country? I'm asking a legit question.

Either way your boy might be pro-life under this definition but if that's the case.....he's no outsider. Just another politician.

Yes, lets make abortion illegal and punish the mother for committing murder if she has one.

Oh, wait, St. Cruz and other phony pro-lifer's said that was a terrible idea, the mother wasn't responsible for making an emotional decision!

Well, of course! Trump knows those in-family pedophiles & teen rapists need to cover up their crimes via slaughtering their evidence!

I agree with you, but because there was these all or nothing battles in the past we got ZERO, but instead of saving many millions and going for the rest one heart at a time we got nothing.

It’s like the pro life movement didn’t think it through.

That episode taught me that there are vast numbers of REPUBLICAN women who want the escape hatch of a consequence-free abortion available to them.

The pro-life movement is made up of a bunch of hypocrites!

If abortion were made illegal tomorrow, they would not punish the mother for having one!

It is either murder or it isn't and if it is murder, the mother becomes a murderer!

So which is it?

What has any republican done about it?

In just the last 4 years, states have enacted 231 abortion restrictions

You are saying something about how women want to have their cake and eat it too, and have it while eating it, and eat it while still having it, while someone else picks up the check, that’s gonna upset a lot of female FReepers.

We can disagree with Trump morally, but that doesn’t change the fact that politically he can’t do anything about those issues!
