Treasury Dept. Announces Big Changes to $10, $5 Bills Following Tubman News
Mediaite ^ | 4/20/16 | Josh Feldman

The Treasury Department made it official this afternoon: Harriet Tubman is replacing Andrew Jackson on the front of the $20, and there are other bills getting big changes too.

Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew announced today that in addition to Tubman, the $10 and $5 bills are getting makeovers. And don’t worry, Alexander Hamilton isn’t going anywhere.

But the back will be changed to this:

The new $10 will honor the story and the heroes of the women’s suffrage movement against the backdrop of the Treasury building… The new $10 design will depict that historic march and honor Lucretia Mott, Sojourner Truth, Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and Alice Paul for their contributions to the suffrage movement.

And Abraham Lincoln is staying on the $5, but events that took place at the Lincoln Memorial will now be featured on the back:

In 1939, at a time when Washington’s concert halls were still segregated, world-renowned Opera singer Marian Anderson helped advance civil rights when, with the support of First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, she performed at the Lincoln Memorial in front of 75,000 people. And in 1963, Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered his historic “I Have a Dream” speech at the same monument in front of hundreds of thousands. Honoring these figures will bring to life events at the Lincoln Memorial that helped to shape our history and our democracy.

The new bills are expected to come into circulation by 2020.

The muslims should immediately protest images of women on paper money - they are not sharia-compliant.

Because to Leftists, our history actually began in the 60’s. This new money sounds like something from a communist country.

This looks like another exercise in pseudo unity. As if government wanted workers and corporations or men and women having good relations...

Why are we blowing money on something that is completely unnecessary? We’re doing crap like this constantly! Stop! We need to put the govt on an austerity diet!

I think it’s high time we give women the credit they deserve (for DESTROYING America) by putting them on worthless currency issued by a DEBTOR nation.

I love how they want to rearrange the deck chairs. Makes them look like they’re doing something, I guess.

If the muslims all left the USA in protest of women on the currency, I would be in a quandary. I would actually have to thank the Obummer administration for something.

What do you want to bet that “In God we trust” is missing on the new bills?

Patriots, also consider that paper money is unconstitutional imo, FDR unconstitutionally conficating gold and silver coins.
Article I, Section 10, Clause 1: No State shall enter into any Treaty, Alliance, or Confederation; grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal; coin Money; emit Bills of Credit; make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts [emphases added]; pass any Bill of Attainder, ex post facto Law, or Law impairing the Obligation of Contracts, or grant any Title of Nobility.

Insights, corrections welcome.

It could have been worse. They could have put Margaret Sanger on the currency.
