My Open Letter to Ted Cruz after the NY Primary
Vanity | April 20, 2016 | Jeff Head

An Open Letter to Ted Cruz

Senator Cruz,
April 20, 2016

I wanted to write this letter to you in the hopes that you will get it and be able to read it.

I have been, and am, a supporter and admirer of yours.

You have been a staunch supporter of the constitution, conservative values, and stood (many times alone) against a GOP Establishment that has not kept faith with the conservative base of the party who electe them.

I have supported you from afar as you won offices in TExas, including your stinning victory for the US SEnate. I have supported you through these Presidential primaries and worked in my own area to help yo win Idaho. I have sent money into your campaign.

Now we have reached a stage where things are coming into focus.

I know, as an individual with the will and the stamina and dedication to run for President that you are absolutely convinced of your need to win this race.

However, reality is now showing that mathematically that victory is out of reach through the primaries.

I know you can, and that you seem willing to try and do all in your power to take the fight to the convention and somehow stop Donald Trump from getting the delegates he needs so you can fight him on the convention floor and win the nomination.

As a devout Christian, as an American who loves this nation and the Constitution, I urge you not to do so.

I believe the single worst thing that we could do, that would almost assuredly lead to a Hillary Clinton victory, is to have an ugly convention fight that ends up taking the nomination away from a man who will have earned the lfar largest share of the vote, and who will have also probably come within a hair's breatdth of winning the necessary delegates. Quite frankly, after his New York victory and depending on what happens on April 26th, I believe it very possible, perhaps even likely, that he will get to the delegates necessary before the convention in any case.

I know the GOPe and many who have had the most vile things to say about you are now hoping to use you to stop Donald Trump. Their support fo you is feigned and they will throw you to the curb the instant they can in order to retain their own power...and, in my pwn estimation, they do not care if it means Hillary Clinton being elected to do so.

I have studied your positions and your speeches and I agree with them and support them whole heartidly. But I have also studied the positions that Trump has now put out and the detail. They are very similar to your own senator. I guess the big question is whetrher we believe Donald Trump will actually follow through and implement them.

If he has the right people around him, helping him, showing him how...I believe he will.

Senator Cruz, a raucus, ugly fight at the convention will almost ensure that one or the other large segmnent of the people who voted in the GOP primaries will be very angry and we will lose many of thiir votes in the general, or worse, they will try a 3rd party run.

Either of those scenarios hands the election to Hillary Clinton or the DNC.

As a nation we absolutely CANNOT afford a 3rd Obama term or worse. The impact to the Supreme Court, to foreigh policy, to our financnes, to a continued erosion of moral values, and almost every other ccritical national interest would all be catastophic.

I plead with you sentor, be the voice of reason. Be the uniter.

You are in a unique position (and God has placed you there) to be able to do this at this time. I know it is not the way you or I envisioned you being able to do it. But it is the truth nonetheless.

Should Trump do well on April 26th and then in Indiana, I urge you to meet with Mr. Trump and be willing to set aside pride, war hatchets, and whatever is necessary to come to an accomodation between the two of you that unites the party behind what will be his candidancy.

I know this is a hard thing to consider...but in the interest of this nation I ask that you prayerfully consider this and stnad up and unite the party so we can win in November.

And then work with Mr. Trump to implement all of those good things that both of your candidacies represent, and then trust in God to turn the tide. I know He will...I know that if the policies set forth are impleneted, he will help us turn this nation around, and there is the very strong possibility that we will have 16 years of strong American leadership to do so.

Sincerely, and as a fellow American and brother in Christ,

Jeff Head

“Cruz has known for some time that he wouldn’t win prior to the convention. He’s just a wrecking ball with some huge donors.

It was reported very early in the campaign that Cruz was well funded. He was a wrecking ball (though mostly ineffective) in the senate and that’s what he’s doing now.”

Appealing to the moral side of Ted Cruz is just STUPID.

He is all ambition! Sooner or later Cruzers have to ask WHY all those big $$$ donors and most of his supporters (except the few he still has conned) are open border funders and TPP like trade deal beneficiaries.

I will be surprised if the globalists allow America to have a new President sworn in. I expect they can generate a false flag large enough to accomplish Martial Law and end the Republic. I’m expecting the Rapture to happen between NOW and late Fall of 2017 ... those clouds are lookin’ more and more like homeward.

Yes, interesting dynamics in that family. I agree.

I agree he’ll carry on too.

Tead is one of those guys that is always right, even if the whole world disagrees.

On some points, I actually agree with that in principle. None of them exist here.

Trump is a lot better than the Cruz folks give him credit for.

Come on, though a devious grinch, Cruz is not unintelligent.
He KNOWS that he is being “used”...but as a man of changeable opportunistic “principle” and is fully aware of the scheme he is wittingly participating in to the detriment of the formerly-working people of this country.

Not trying to offend, here, but is that supposed to be Cruz’s fault? Did Cruz make the rules for the way the “party” in Colorado chose to choose their delegates? Why would that be a low-blow, fault of Cruz? Am only seeking to understand.

Yes...and the MSM and the DNC are pushing for it...sadly, so is the GOPe.

Both men are very smart, and they both love this country.

Trump is brash, irreverent, and has significantly shifted his positions. Yet I personally believe, at his age, with his kids and grandkids, that he has established positions now that we need and most of us agree with if he will actually do them.

I have come to the conclusion over the last months that he will. He wants to win, and he is articulating many things that are keeping America from winning that I believe he will tackle and do all he can to correct.

Cruz, despite the pronouncements by many, has been a fighter for the constitution and conservative values from the start...and he often went it alone in the Senate when most people would not have had the commitment or gumption to do so.

They are both also clearly proud men who are convinced of their own importance to the here and now.

Cruz’s ground game, despite what many say, has been brilliant in terms of setting himself of in the event of a brokered convention...and it has all been by the rules.

Trump’s counter strategy, to call fowl (where there is no fowl) and thereby gain media attention and blunt the impact of Cruz strategy is also brilliant from a political perspective. And I believe that is exactly what it is.

I do not blame either of them for those things.

But the personal attacks and the dragging down of one another have only provided fodder to the DNC, the MSM, and the GOPe.

The GOPe is now trying to co-opt Cruz to stop Trump. I do not believe Cruz has gone over to them...but I am afraid he will try and use them (while not trusting them) to get to the nomination in an ugly convention battle.

I believe that battle will cause us to lose in November.

That type of divisiveness has to end in order to preserve the HUIGE anti-establishment coalition the two men together represent.

If they can bring that together and go forward., they will absolutely crush the livening daylight out of the GOPe and put together a much broader coalition which...if united...I believe wins in November too.

As it stands...Trump is the winner by a significant margin, and it falls to Ted to be the one to stop the divisiveness, unite with Trump, find the way to put the rancor behind them, and pull together for the sake of this nation.

Ted’s positions, Ted’s efforts both in the State of Texas and in the US Senate are something I admire...but the reality is what it is.

Trumps actual published plans and policies are not that far different that Ted’s. Ted can unite this thing and pull the two sides together if he will lay down the war hatchet and make peace with trump for the good of the nation...if he only will.

I am praying...and writing...and working to make that the outcome in any way I can.

IMHO, it is the only clear path to victory I see in November.

Read my post 189.

Cruz strategy for preparing for a contested convention on his terms has brilliant. Only problem is, in this election cycle, it will absolutely poison the well.

In a like fashion, Trump’s counter strategy of calling fowl (where there is none) and thus getting all the more media attention and casting a shadow on what Cruz is doing has also been brilliant from a political perspective.

I cannot blame either man for those things in such a high stakes political fight.

The thing that is poisoning it all is the rancor and out and out anger and hate the two teams are developing for one another...when in November they are going to both need all of those millions of voters and supporters to combine.

That is why I wrote this letter.

Cruz is the one who it has fallen to end the rancor, lay down the war hatchet, and make peace and unite the two camps.

He can do that...if he only will.

Thank you. I hope to change my tag line soon.

Let’s pray he takes your advice. He’s young and will rebound well if he does this sooner than later.

This map of the current state of the GOP Primaries makes pretty clear where everyone now sits:

I honestly believe at this point that Trump will probably take more than 57% of the remaining delegates.

But there still needs to be a lot of healing to occur for the GOP to be able to unite and beat the Dems...and the sooner Cruz does that, the better for our nation.

This upcoming battle between Trump vs Cruz/Kasich represents the entire grass-roots conservatives — the “tea party types, if you will — against 28 years of rule by every single Elite, Establishment, Vinchy Republican who has been in DC, telling us how stupid we are and how they are the only ones who are smart enough to rule.

You are in for a surprise then because the 'TEA Party types' are the Cruz delegates, and the 'Elite Establishment types' are the Trump delegates, regardless of who they are bound to for the first vote. The Cruz camp hand-picked their delegates while the Trump camp took what the GOPe gave them.

If it makes you feel good to blame me for not voting for Trump (”Hillary thanks your for your support”) then fine. Feel free.

I survived THIS:

If it makes you feel good to blame me for not voting for Romney(”Obama thanks your for your support”) then fine.

I have supported senator Cruz, both actively here in Idaho, and with my finances at a time when my funds for my cancer are of vital concern.

Beck still does; I think.
