My Open Letter to Ted Cruz after the NY Primary
Vanity | April 20, 2016 | Jeff Head

An Open Letter to Ted Cruz

Senator Cruz,
April 20, 2016

I wanted to write this letter to you in the hopes that you will get it and be able to read it.

I have been, and am, a supporter and admirer of yours.

You have been a staunch supporter of the constitution, conservative values, and stood (many times alone) against a GOP Establishment that has not kept faith with the conservative base of the party who electe them.

I have supported you from afar as you won offices in TExas, including your stinning victory for the US SEnate. I have supported you through these Presidential primaries and worked in my own area to help yo win Idaho. I have sent money into your campaign.

Now we have reached a stage where things are coming into focus.

I know, as an individual with the will and the stamina and dedication to run for President that you are absolutely convinced of your need to win this race.

However, reality is now showing that mathematically that victory is out of reach through the primaries.

I know you can, and that you seem willing to try and do all in your power to take the fight to the convention and somehow stop Donald Trump from getting the delegates he needs so you can fight him on the convention floor and win the nomination.

As a devout Christian, as an American who loves this nation and the Constitution, I urge you not to do so.

I believe the single worst thing that we could do, that would almost assuredly lead to a Hillary Clinton victory, is to have an ugly convention fight that ends up taking the nomination away from a man who will have earned the lfar largest share of the vote, and who will have also probably come within a hair's breatdth of winning the necessary delegates. Quite frankly, after his New York victory and depending on what happens on April 26th, I believe it very possible, perhaps even likely, that he will get to the delegates necessary before the convention in any case.

I know the GOPe and many who have had the most vile things to say about you are now hoping to use you to stop Donald Trump. Their support fo you is feigned and they will throw you to the curb the instant they can in order to retain their own power...and, in my pwn estimation, they do not care if it means Hillary Clinton being elected to do so.

I have studied your positions and your speeches and I agree with them and support them whole heartidly. But I have also studied the positions that Trump has now put out and the detail. They are very similar to your own senator. I guess the big question is whetrher we believe Donald Trump will actually follow through and implement them.

If he has the right people around him, helping him, showing him how...I believe he will.

Senator Cruz, a raucus, ugly fight at the convention will almost ensure that one or the other large segmnent of the people who voted in the GOP primaries will be very angry and we will lose many of thiir votes in the general, or worse, they will try a 3rd party run.

Either of those scenarios hands the election to Hillary Clinton or the DNC.

As a nation we absolutely CANNOT afford a 3rd Obama term or worse. The impact to the Supreme Court, to foreigh policy, to our financnes, to a continued erosion of moral values, and almost every other ccritical national interest would all be catastophic.

I plead with you sentor, be the voice of reason. Be the uniter.

You are in a unique position (and God has placed you there) to be able to do this at this time. I know it is not the way you or I envisioned you being able to do it. But it is the truth nonetheless.

Should Trump do well on April 26th and then in Indiana, I urge you to meet with Mr. Trump and be willing to set aside pride, war hatchets, and whatever is necessary to come to an accomodation between the two of you that unites the party behind what will be his candidancy.

I know this is a hard thing to consider...but in the interest of this nation I ask that you prayerfully consider this and stnad up and unite the party so we can win in November.

And then work with Mr. Trump to implement all of those good things that both of your candidacies represent, and then trust in God to turn the tide. I know He will...I know that if the policies set forth are impleneted, he will help us turn this nation around, and there is the very strong possibility that we will have 16 years of strong American leadership to do so.

Sincerely, and as a fellow American and brother in Christ,

Jeff Head

I reject the premise. I see it over and over again, but why is it a given that Trump would be better than Clinton? Based on what? What he’s been saying as a candidate or how he’s lived his entire life? I choose to judge the man by his actions and by that standard I see no cause for hope that he would govern any more conservatively than Clinton.

Holy crap. Any of these guys making so many speeches a day without prompters can make a mistake. His mistake doesn’t show illiteracy; it’s just like a spoken typo. 7/11 is a thing and so is 9/11.

He didn’t pronounce corpsmen as corpsemen. He didn’t say he sees so many fallen heroes in the audience.

Such a mistake doesn’t happen to Lying Hillary. She carries prompters everywhere.

Where he will lose againt Hillary.

I respectfully disagree. If the GOP can go to convention with a clear winner, Clinton will be beat soundly. If, however, the convention is contested and the GOP push their own candidate through, the GOP will be ruined and any support will be minimal - giving Clinton an easy win. Then it’s goodbye, USA.

Cruz inordinately sees himself as Reagan in 1976. He wants to repeat that even to the floor fight and the 1980 coronation and win.

However, the field of battle is different this time. Cruz is not fighting the Establishment Liberals (Ford). Trump is a different animal calling for a different strategy.

Trump may or may not beat Hillary. But Cruz cannot beat Trump without it being a pyric victory. So Ted needs to back off, let Trump win and the chips fall, score some points, and still be the guy all the TRUMP supporters want next time. The only way to do that is to JOIN HANDS.

Cruz should pursue the nomination through the convention Trump is a liberal like Jerry Ford, he Claims he will build a wall, fine that would be nice.

However he hasn’t proposed any entitlement reforms, he has proposed no spending cuts, or getting rid of any government programs, he has proposed a touch and go amnesty. He has proposed continued funding of the “good work” Planned Parenthood does.

Mr Trump’s campaign has been a wrecking ball of personal attacks against many candidates. He should apologize to Cruz if he wants to ask for Cruz’s support he should renounce his vile referencing of Cruz as Lying Ted.

Hold Trump short of 1237 and try to win on a second ballot this is what your supporters want.

And I make fun of Obama making those mistakes too. You need to grow some thicker skin if you can’t handle this joke. It’s funny. Just like the ones with Cruz are funny too.

Problem is, being from New York, is Trump not the east coast establishment candidate? So how could a contested convention be worse than that?

Cruz is for Tpp which will send ANY remaining factories in Texas and the USA to China. That’s doing something to hurt Texas and the USA. Also they will use TPP to bring in more immigrants .

Hey Cruz go “help” your native Canada and get out of my Country

Well if Trump listens to his buddy Giuliani it will be Kasich. And then what will you do? Will you not vote for Trump for picking a liberal VP?

A difficult letter to write, Jeff Head, when you so greatly support what you hear from Senator Cruz— his agenda.

(Though I am amazed you are not of the opinion that Cruz is a not too subtle tool for the globalist establishment in Washington and internationalists on Wall Street, and with a wife willing to serve as an associate to the CFR paper cracking the door open for a North American ‘Community’ (UNION), and making it sound like Julie Andrews singing the “Sound of Music”.)

I am grateful for your objectivity on the math, and your courage to have at least heard, read and come to appreciate the TRUMP agenda and mostly his RESOLVE and powerful addresses on American security, jobs and growth and regulations, treasonous foreign trade policies and our endless foreign enemy agreements, our current Middle East infiltration and “Refugee Policy” , and our nasty deal making between DC and the globalists.

I agree Cruz should not be a spoiler in these dangerous times. It is every day coming closer to life and death for American citizens should Cruz vicariously promote those dangers by hurting TRUMP and helping Hillary Clinton.

The enemy is in the gate. We need TRUMP.

Nice letter.
Whatever concerns he may have had for the country and the citizens seem to have taken a back seat to his ambition.
He has become a tool of the GOPe to block the citizens from retaining the rule of law and our country.
The main purpose of the GOPe is to prevent the citizens from stopping The Cheap Labor Express and Ted is now helping them achieve that.

I am sorry to disappoint.

It is not something I wanted to write.

I have supported senator Cruz, both actively here in Idaho, and with my finances at a time when my funds for my cancer are of vital concern.

However, my first allegiance (after to God and family) is to the Nation.

A raucous, ugly fight on the convention floor is almost invariably going to lead to fracturing the party and one or the other groups (Trump’s or Cruz’s) will likely either not vote, or some have even said run a 3rd party.

Any of this destroys any chance of preventing an Obama 3rd term through Hillary or the DNC. This is the vital thing we must prevent.

If Cruz and others can find a way to join with Trump, we will have the best chance of those plans he has set forth and announced actually being accomplished. They would also set the stage for that type of leadership potentially lasting 3-4 administrations.

I honestly believe this to be the case...and it is why I wrote the letter.

Cruz doing his “victory dance” over voterless Colorado, Wyoming, and North Dakota was both stupid and disgusting. For years I served & fought overseas as a US Army combat Infantryman. I’d be livid if I was one of my military brothers or sisters from Colorado, Wyoming, or North Dakota.

So go do your victory dance & celebrate Ted, because those serving in the US military from these states who protect your backside every day were denied the right to vote.

That ship has sailed. Trump's scorched earth campaign has already insured a Hillary win in November, regardless of whether Cruz or Trump are the nominee. At this point, the main reason I want to see Trump defeated is in the hope that we might be able to hang on to at least one house of Congress. If Trump is the nominee, we lose the Senate and probably the House as well.
