Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX)said Wednesday morning that a contested Republican convention is certain and that supporters of Donald Trump are ultimately helping Hillary Clinton reach the White House.
During a radio interview for a Philadelphia morning show, Cruz predicted with certainty that the Republican Party is “headed to a contested convention.” He suggests Trump supporters “might as well put a Hillary sticker on your car.”

By empirical proof, the GOP (to which Ted, et al have signed on) doesn’t care about winning. They are far more comfortable with second-tier power than the work it takes to lead effectively. They just want that power and money the Democrats will cede them for being “fealty lords” in the realm of the Democrat Kingdom. Petty criminals, IOW.
Many here hope for an alliance. I question whether Trump is capable of managing such a thing. Should Cruz step aside, and Trump simply spikes the ball without some real acknowledgement of what Cruz and his supporters hold dear, then no real alliance is going to happen.
But, perhaps he will amaze me as he has done over and over. Perhaps a leopard can change his spots.
The "mad as hell..." theme will not translate into November victory. Neither will the "war on politicians".
And the deeply held principle, that more government (making better deals) is NOT the solution needed, will not simply vanish. (This is the bottom line I get from Trump.) He could use Cruz to carry that message, and reveal a plan of action with concrete steps to begin to move in that direction.

I meant to also say that I started out as a Cruz supporter with Carson as my second choice. Carson soon showed that he had weaknesses as a candidate, but I still greatly respect the man. Then Trump and Cruz were my top picks. Cruz’s Carson shenanigans in Iowa gave me pause, and since then my respect for him has continued to diminish. I’d vote for the guy, but it would only be a vote to stop Hilary. I started out thinking Trump was a cartoon character buffoon, but I admire him for saying what he thinks despite knowing that it might not go over well or even be a campaign ender (e.g., building a wall, halting Muslim immigration). There are a lot of things I don’t like about him - like the juvenile name calling. But security is my #1 issue and I give it to Trump.
Cruz is like Obama: he states what he hopes will happen as if it were a fact. Cruz hopes that if Trump beats him in the primary, Hillary will beat Trump in the general.
Also like Obama, Cruz has a lot of anger inside. In statements like this one, it comes out.
We had a poll yesterday. Apparently you missed it. Loser Ted Cruz once again was beaten like a drum by “awful” candidate Trump.
Not nearly as weak as Reagan was against Carter this time in 1980. How did that turn out?
Trumpers need to dispense with the 1980’s fantasy. Because it’s no way applicable to 2016. Reagan was running against an unpopular incumbent without a near 70 percent negative rating with much different demographics
Reagan carried many states that Trump nor Cuz will carry.
I’m not saying Trump will lose for sure. I just doubt if he will win.
I donated money to Cruz when he first declared, and I would vote for him if he were the nominee (which I don’t expect to happen because the Party bosses will NEVER allow it).
Every single thing that he said could just as easily apply to him and his campaign. That is what is known as hubris and/or hypocrisy.
I think that Cruz should listen to his own advice to Kasich - that when you can no longer win on the first ballot, because it is mathematically impossible, then it is time to leave the race.
It is time to unify the Party, time to start the battle against the Dems, the Media, the FSA (Free $... Army), the BLM types, and general America-haters. If a Dem, ANY Dem, is elected in November, this country is OVER. It is time, Senator Cruz, to make your best deal and gracefully leave the race after a hard and well-fought race.
I have only two answers to this strategy; Either Cruz is considering a Third Party Run or his ego is so big, he's completely blind of reality.

News for you. Hillary is carrying NY in the general. Trump may do better against her than Cruz in NY. But Hillary will carry it along with most, if not all, of the NE

While I am no Trump fan, I would vote for the Donald in a heartbeat over giving the election to Mussolini in a pantsuit. Despite his flaws, Trump would at least give the country a chance of recovering versus certainly being dragged to perdition by Hillary.

Lets examine this a little:
Most of Cruz’s delegates hes “winning” are State Party officers, donors and others under the #NeverTrump agenda. As such they are loyal to the Party not to Cruz.
So assume that Mr. 15-20% some how forces a contested convention. With his inability to win actual voters outside the GOPe party machine giving it to him, he has no chance.
Accordingly, his method of stealing delegates under “the rules” will not exist in the general and he will not have very many actual voters for him - The party machine and people like you mostly, No indis, no cross overs, no blue dog dems, etc. While Hillary will have the Diebold/black/dem machine advantage like always.
Now the party leadership is not dumb when it comes to keeping their gravy train rolling. The know the above even if you refuse to believe it. They have already told you they want somebody else as the Nominee and have floated a couple. Obviously if they do that the GOP will lose big in the general but they do not seem to care.
So, the most likely scenario at a contested convention going to a 2nd vote is the GOPe will direct their Party loyal #neverTrump fake Cruz delegates to torpedo Cruz. Look at how many long term GOP insider State Party officals are in his delegates if you do not think that’s possible.
So real world is a Vote for Cruz is a Vote for a contested convention where Cruz will LOSE. The GOPe will install a Rino and we end up with Hillary.
And before you try to argue against the above. Explain the path Cruz can win in the general with who and how considering his performance so far.

I’m beginning to see why people do not like Cruz.
Cruz is young enough that he should recognize it's not yet his time and that he can now choose to either look to the future or dig in his heels and damage not only his party but also his own political future. The time to do that is this month and whether he does so before or after next Tuesday is his choice. But if continues to try to be a "disunifier" it will be impossible for him to reunify the party even if he manages to gain the nomination. That's the only path Hillary has to victory. Something for Mr. Cruz to consider carefully.
Yes, the more thoughtful ones will implore those of us who told them from day one that you can't nominate an unprincipled, unmannered, unelectable candidate to bail them out for the good of the country.
It will be bitterly, bitterly hilarious.
The rest will deny reality and start complaining about elections being stolen.
Hillary wins 49, maybe 50 states and takes back the Senate, House and many state houses. The courts are lost for a generation. Goodbye 2nd Amendment, hello open borders, so long America it’s been a great run. Thanks Mr. Trump and your loyal 35% of the republican primary voters. The Donald as been well paid for delivering the WH to the Clintons. The only question is who is writing the check, and what are they getting from the Clintons for their investment?

Absolutely. And how did Cruz do there? Didn’t win a single county in FL, VA and OH. He’s the worst national candidate in generations. Cruz has hope in the general. Zero.
