Chief Justice Roberts uses Obama’s words against him on immigration case
The Washington Times ^ | April 18, 2016 | Stephen Dinan

Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. prodded the Obama administration Monday to explain President Obama’s immigration flip-flop, when Mr. Obama in 2014 reversed himself and decided he did, after all, have powers to grant a tentative amnesty to as many as 5 million illegal immigrants.

Mr. Obama had repeatedly denied he had that kind of power, then after the 2014 election, when Congress refused to act on his policies, the president claimed a do-over and said he did have the power.

Chief Justice Roberts wondered what changed in Mr. Obama’s mind, and even read back one of Mr. Obama’s quotes to Solicitor General Donald B. Verrilli Jr. recounting the president saying he would be “ignoring the law” if he were to grant a broad stay of deportation to millions of illegal immigrants.

“What was he talking about?” the chief justice prodded.

Mr. Verrilli said Mr. Obama may have changed his mind after asking the Justice Department’s legal advisory branch to take a closer look at his powers.

It was a trap question.

He changed his mind....is insufficient because I believe he also said it AFTER he signed the EO.

I have no confidence in the court.

It was really the last branch of our government that I had any trust. That is gone.

Roberts will just “do it for the children”.

His own.

I agree. The NSA, under Bath House and Jarrett, does their bidding, and Roberts will buckle when threatened with NSA-derived data.

Nothing pisses off Democrats more than when you accurately quote them.

Roberts is a disappointment of immeasurable impact. HIs rulings haven’t just evaded conservative principles but have actually seems framed with stilted and twisted reasoning.

Is he bought? Is he coerced? Never would I ask that question if he wasn’t so convoluted in his perversion of the constitution.

“I have no confidence in the court.

The truth is that isn’t the branches of government that are untrustworthy, it’s the people currently in them. And it’s our job to get them ALL out! Where the SCOTUS is concerned, they positions have to be changed so that they are not lifetime appointlments. The SCOTUS has become unaccountable to the citizenry. That can’t continue. Here in Caiifornia, our Supreme Court Justices have to stand before the voters every so many years. We got rid of a female Chief Justice (Rose Elizabeeth Bird, a Jerry the Fairy appointee) because she was rotten to the core. We need to have that same ability witht the SCOTUS.

“...Chief Justice Roberts wondered what changed in Mr. Obama’s mind...”

A psychotic level of hypocrisy mixed with gutter-level politics. And the list goes on...

I agree that justices should be held accountable to the people. But since that’s not the case, I continue to not trust even this branch of our government.

I don’t understand why members of the elites think they can set their fellow countrymen up for cultural suicide in the future, but that they and their offspring will somehow not be affected, not be jeopardized.

Are they so confident that their membership in “The Club” will pass to their children and grandchildren? That their progeny will somehow be protected from the fallout going on into the future?

Either (1) they do, or (2) they don’t care. If (1), I think their confidence is misplaced. There’s also (3), I guess: they’re so brain-dead they don’t see the danger.

They act like they think there’s going to be some escape hatch in the future, some way to protect their own while everything else blows up.

It’s the sort of thing you might expect if NASA or DARPA had invented some kind of interstellar drive technology that they were keeping a top secret, and the elites saw it as a way to escape the maelstrom to another solar system, a la WALL-E.

Ted Cruzifer, one of satan’s BFFs, personally recommended & endorsed Dread Pirate John Roberts including writing an op-ed in the WSJ.

Ted Cruzifer has always been Establishment.
