Donald Trump's soldiers in Georgia are waking up -- perhaps too late -- to what's at stake on Saturday, when Republicans gather by congressional district to pick more than half of the 76 delegates and alternates who will attend July's presidential nominating convention in Cleveland.logo-all
This morning, Trump state director Brandon Phillips sent out an email that was one-half alarm bell and one-half plea. It included this paragraph:
"Mr. Trump won Georgia by more than 14 points, almost 200,000 more votes than his next closest rival. He also carried 155 counties out of 159. Ted Cruz didn't win a single county. Because of this landslide victory, Mr. Trump was awarded 42 delegates. We're asking that the Republican officials honor his victory this Saturday with fair representation."
The email goes on to list Trump coordinators in the 14 congressional districts, with this message:
"If you are willing to attend one of these meetings this Saturday morning and show your support for Mr. Trump, please contact the volunteer coordinator nearest you."
Here's the thing: The selection of delegates who will represent Trump in Cleveland, as well as Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, is now a closed process. If you weren't selected as a congressional convention delegate last month at the county-level meetings, you will have no standing at Saturday's gatherings. Other than as a spectator.
Moreover, in most congressional districts, the processing of applications to be a delegate in Cleveland is nearly over. For instance, in the 11th District, interviews for potential delegates were held on Saturday and Tuesday. A final session will be held tonight. More than likely, if you haven't applied to be a delegate by now, you're out of luck.

Finished it for ya.
I encourage you to read Jim’s post, then:

If you “stay home,” then you are part of the problem.
You relish your ignorance, don’t you?
The TRUTH is that Cruz does better against Hillary than Trump. Trump’s negatives are FAR higher than Cruz’s.
But you won’t accept that, since it doesn’t fit your worldview.
No it is his FIRST run. He looked into it before, but never actually ran.
Is that sarcasm? Trump has never run before.
He was also a cosponsor:
In the nearly three decades that Trump’s been toying with presidential runs, has he made even a nominal effort to get involved and change what he’s now whining about?
About 2 weeks before the general the polls will "tighten" up so the pollsters, dickh3ads all, can save some cedibility.
He’s probably been too busy running actual businesses that earn a profit.
Do you believe that America is the land of opportunity and anybody can grow up to be President, or only those people who spend all their time and energy playing politics?
Cruz: “I am king of the voterless states!”
:) Elegantly put.
We've seen this recently. Trying to storm a county or state convention without have done the necessary participation in caucus meetings and other requirements BASED ON THE STANDING RULES, get rebuffed, and then cry "unfair!" This man is very unethical if he tells people in a group email to turn out without first having themselves establish before they even go if they have passed through the process correctly and are hence eligible. This sets the stage for confusion, disappointment and perhaps even misplaced anger--you saw the rebuffed guy in the viral video from Colorado that in a pissed off mood, burned his GOP card once back home, when it actually turned out he had missed some critical steps. This is the danger of populism turning into mobism, and calls into question the morals of Trump's Campaign. Worse than libs. Crybabies.
Yes, anyone can. Trump chose to run under the Republican banner, however, so he should have taken some time to learn about its workings or gotten involved and worked to change what he’s now complaining about.
So you are perfectly fine with illegal aliens showing up and being able to vote even despite the rules? Right? Suppose you tell me why that might be wrong under your logic about standing rules. After all, to allow them to vote would be in the tradition of democracy and maximum participation.
Thats irrelevant in the US. We are NOT a democracy. For a reason. We are a constitutional republic.
Mr. Cruz DOES have a republican path to the nomination.
We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
You see that??? We the people...
I often hear people argue that the United States is a republic, not a democracy. But thats a false dichotomy. A common definition of republic is, to quote the American Heritage Dictionary, A political order in which the supreme power lies in a body of citizens who are entitled to vote for officers and representatives responsible to them we are that. A common definition of democracy is, Government by the people, exercised either directly or through elected representatives we are that, too.
You are wrong on the first part and correct on the second.
The only path that TED CRUZ has is directly to DESTROY all chances of preventing a RAT from getting the Presidency in November.
The man is LOOSER with the REPUBLICAN “VOTERS” in almost every state that he has campaigned in, let alone the general voting population.
If you think that CRUZ will UNITE the party, let alone win the majority of American voters, and actually TURN THIS COUNTRY AROUND (with the “ZERO” experience that he has, then you belong with the delusional ideologues that get DUPED every election by the political/donor class that back stabs you once they get in office.
Yes, you’re right. He’s only been running his mouth about it since 1988 or so.
