Calls to dump caucus, go with presidential primary echo from both sides of the aisle

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - With GOP frontrunner Donald Trump now bashing Colorado's caucus and convention system, there are indications that a change is in the works.

Lawmakers in Denver plan to soon introduce a bill that would scrap the caucus in favor of a presidential primary.

After a shutout here, Donald Trump is enraged.

Only the most active Colorado Republicans participated in the caucus and convention process leading some voters to cry foul.

"The process has really let us down this year," active GOP voter Eli Bremer said. "It really should be the primary voters in each state that pick our eventual nominee. What we're having are back room deals and things that Republicans, Democrats and Independents are quite frustrated with."

Only 6 percent of registered Republicans and Democrats voted in the Colorado Caucuses March 1.

In a presidential primary, many argue turnout would be much higher.

WHY do you feel this way?

Because:
Yes; Trump has raised some important issues that have been skipped over for years - illegal immigration and bureaucratic corruption being paramount.
Yes; The founder's intent relied on knowledgeable and patriotic citizens serving brief terms before returning to civilian life.
Yes, The Donald might meet at least the patriotic citizen part but we don't have a clue about either the knowledge or intent to serve only briefly.
And, yes, DC is a swamp populated by self serving agents of the matrix.

The question becomes whether we reform the present by tossing bombs and turning violence upon anyone who disagrees (see: Adolph Hitler), by demonizing and purging the ranks (Stalin), or by ignoring the rules and denouncing them as unfair after failing to win (any schoolyard bully).

However:
The structure set up in 1787 was based on checks and balances beyond just the executive, legislative, and judicial branches. We are a representative, federal system based on several sovereign states, each with it's own means of nominating candidates. Despite Mr. Lincoln's successes, we still try to respect both state's rights and individual rights. "One man one vote" was correctly seen as an avenue to anarchy...and the Trump campaign is only proving that to be a valid concern.

(This reply was delayed by an unfortunate requirement to sleep...which is unfair and clearly proof that the human condition is stacked against us.)

I just called the Colorado Secretary of State and spoke with their Elections division. The cost of $5 million for a presidential primary quoted in the article assumes that the presidential primary is a completely separate process from the regular primary (for offices like county commissioner, legislators, etc.) If the regular primary were to be moved to the same date so that the presidential primary could be just a few extra lines on the regular primary ballot, the cost would presumably be negligible.
