WOW! Donald Trump surges to 60% in New York state!
Leads Ted Cruz by 46 points!

NY1 reported:

Donald Trump has a commanding 43-point lead in the New York Republican presidential primary, and Hillary Clinton has a 13-point advantage in the Democratic primary, according to a NY1/Baruch College poll released Monday night.

Running in his home state, Trump is supported by 60 percent of likely Republican voters, the poll found. Ohio Gov. John Kasich and U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas trail far behind with 17 percent and 14 percent, respectively.
“Trump is just killing it,” said Baruch College pollster Mickey Blum.

Trump’s support in the April 19 primary is widespread, the poll found.

“Every demographic group goes for him,” said Baruch College pollster Doug Muzzio. “Every geographic group, every socio-economic group. And with large majorities. Cruz ain’t doing it. And Kasich ain’t doing it.”

It's a lot easier for moderate/liberal successful businessman to appeal to Texas voters than it is for Social conservative Christian Senator to appeal to New Yorkers.

Trump is a good candidate for Texas voters, while Cruz is not at all a good candidate for New York voters.

There is no higher significance to it than that. Trump will do quite well among Liberal New York voters. That doesn't mean he is the best pick to enact a conservative agenda.

I love that Cruz is falling to third place. Serves him right for all the cheating.

I'm glad I changed preference to Trump before all this negative crap came out. I changed because I thought Trump was the stronger and better candidate, not because I didn't like Cruz. It took me months of watching what Trump was doing to realize he was the best candidate, and would make the best president.

I'm with you.

Several months ago, there was one of those quizzes: which candidate are you most aligned with? The quiz result said that I agree with 97% of Cruz positions, 75% of Trump's. However, I made the calculation that Trump has a long record of getting things done, and his business skills are needed to start trimming the bloated government. So I leaned toward Trump, but would have accepted Cruz.

No more. I've realized, thanks to Cruz's underhanded tactics (telling voters Carson was out when he wasn't, not giving voters any voice in CO, etc.) that I can never support Cruz. He's toast, and he burned all his bridges.

I’d guess for those who need to take some quiz on which candidate might suit them, they probably shouldn’t be voting in the first place.

It was a quiz that asked your opinion on various issues, and compared it to politicians' stated opinions on those same issues.

I usually spend hours researching the candidates by reading statements, news articles, and so forth. A quiz where someone else did all that work is a real time-saver!

I guess for some folks it would work OK. My problem with those are the questions and wording can be skewed. If it worked for you, that’s great.

The sad part of this whole debate between Trump and Cruz supporters is both really want the same thing. I think what it really breaks down to is that Trump voters truly hate the system and want an outsider to break things up and Cruz supporters desperately want someone on the outside but clearly see Trump as a wolf in sheep’s clothing who will deliver a presidency that will describe him as an opportunist who was at worst(but probably likely) a economic conservative and a social liberal. That’s against a person like Cruz who will in all likely hood fight for conservative causes both economic and socially but is such a scummy, lying, dirtbag of a person that Trump voters just plain hate the guy. So what’s a good moral Christian going to do? Vote for the guy that says he aligns with their values, but probably doesn’t(Trump), or vote for the guy who will probably just and make policy based on their values and said he was like you but really at the end of the day was the furthest from grace.

That’s why while in Oregon the race will probably be decided by then(contested or Trump), I don’t really like either one of these guys, but neither of them can be WORSE than Hillary so I’m going to have to go with whoever is in the general election but I’m going to root for the true outsider and go Trump in this one.

I’ll do my part to get the Irish out on June 7 in my state. We’re in play for the first time in a long time. Hope we can put him over the top.
