Ted Cruz, the man who believes god wants him to be president
Daily Express ^ | April 8, 2016 | Chris Roycroft-Davis

SENATOR Ted Cruz may be dubbed the most despised man in Washington but he is certain God wants him to be the next president of the US.

snip

What is disconcerting is the paradox that such a religious person as Cruz can attract such hatred. If you think hatred is a strong word this is what Cruz’s college room-mate says of him: “I would rather have anybody else be the president of the United States. Anyone. I would rather pick somebody from the phone book.”

In case the US did not get the message, Craig Mazin – now a scriptwriter – added: “Ted Cruz will become the thing you need him to be so that he wins an election. No principles, no moral centre, no values. Just ambition.”

snip

Ted GETTY, Trump's senior policy advisor said said Cruz was a Wall Street globalist

The dawning realisation that it could be Cruz prompted Trump’s most senior policy adviser to tell an audience in Wisconsin: “I’m going to tell each and every one of you the real truth about Ted Cruz. He is a radical Wall Street globalist who will rip the beating heart of manufacturing out of the United States of America.”

Strong stuff. Trump weighed in this way: “He’s a nasty guy. Nobody likes him. Nobody in Congress likes him. Nobody likes him anywhere once they get to know him.”

snip

When asked which politician they would like to run for president many people who have worked with him closely say anyone but Cruz.

One political strategist who worked with Cruz in George W Bush’s campaign office tweeted that: “If a truth serum was given to the staff of the 2000 Bush [campaign team] an enormous percentage would vote for Trump over Cruz.”

There is such a thing as political rhetoric and hyperbole. Does this rise to the level of "lies" or does Cruz really think Trump could do those things?

This is a really intense race. If Trump wins 1237, then the nomination is his. He is not my first choice, obviously. I do not agree with his belief that he should get the nomination if he has the most delegates but is short of 1237.

You really don't know anything about Texas. ...You really don't know anything about Texas.

What does knowing about Texas have to do with Teddy's LIES? He has argued in court, not "fought" for anything but personal aggrandizement. He has had a life-long goal to become POTUS. He used it all as sipping stones, but his personal history reveals that he is a tool of the Bushes and GOPe.

I believe Teddy is a LIAR. You call him "principled". His idea of gaining the nomination by "hook or crook" ells us otherwise. He doesn't get the votes, but goes after the delegates. You call that smart. I call it anything but "principled". I just call it "Lyin' Ted! The shoe fits perfectly! TEDDY has a LONG HISTORY OF DECEPTIVE ACTIONS!

YMMV!

... In fact, Cruz cited his own 1994 article not once but twice before the Supreme Court: in briefs submitted in Locke v. Davey and in another religious liberty case in 2006, Anderson v. Town of Durham. Cruz referred to the article only to support a few general statements—nothing groundbreaking or controversial. But he didn’t identify himself as the article’s author either time—which was a violation of the legal citation guidelines in place at the time and, legal experts say, was a bit deceptive. -http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2016/02/ted-cruz-2016-ritual-sacrifice-213681#ixzz45Nd7Wemj

YMMV!

Trump is a wild card in my opinion. No one knows what he would do if elected.

If Cruz simply said that, I wouldn't have a problem. Comparing his current and past positions is perfectly fair. Deliberately lying about what his current positions are is slimy.

Neither of us will change the mind of the other. Let’s just move on.

I believe it was two outright wins and three partial wins-so five.

It’s entirely possible God does want the looser to be president, but that’s not necessarily a good sign. Ted could be part of judgement. It wouldn’t be the first time in HIStory something like that has happened to a nation.

A queston to ponder inwardly is, “If a majority of a people want to establish a known liar as their leader, is it because they have a problem with truth?” Is pride in the way?

Just something to ponder.

You know, in 1999, I was not into the Second Amendment—I was not a gun owner, had never fired one, in fact I recoiled at the thought of them even tho many friends went hunting when I lived in Wisconsin.

It was not until 2008 that I truly understood the importance of the Second Amendment. Suffice it to say that I am now an NRA member and a whole lot more ;)

Point is, people’s positions can and do change over time—at least mine did on gun ownership.

Also, Trump’s sons are avid hunter sportsmen, so I believe Trump is very pro-Second Amendment.

Yours is not the first post to allude to this...Worth pondering!

Yes, America is going under judgement now...and we could be setting up for some real interesting times...To have someone who is not who they seem as President would be very fitting.

I won’t argue that he is a conservative Christian; however, some of his votes and activities make me question the consistency and depth to which both of these terms apply.

It does when it is an outright lie.

yea...got it...Just trying to state that he acts like a phony Christians with the the way he acts holier than thou, this kind of smug attitude turns many away from even considering Christianity as a path to follow. But I did a poor job of trying to say it is true.

The problem is not that Ted is Godly

It’s that he doesn’t act it well

Ditto his conservatism

It’s flawed with political ambition and expediency

Trump makes no pretense and has no history of political subterfuge as just normal and moral like Cruz does

Trump likes women....so do I...and he doesnt preach about it...I do a bit now after 20 years of fealty to same lady parts

To me Trump is likable

To self righteous Christians he’s Mephistopheles

LOL memorizing some thing and reciting it doesn’t mean you believe it, support, it, live it in all areas of your life.

we all had to memorize things, didn’t mean we understood what we memorized, or even thought it important.

Being right, as TRUMP IS and a visionary to boot, who has the gust to tell it like it is, evidently earns far more scorn than being a Canadian FRAUD and LIAR who is a BIG GOPEer.

We are voting for a president, NOT for the head of a state religion! And Ted isn't as conservative as Trump is.

I like Trump and would love to have dinner with him and Melania...even a cup of coffee or tea. He makes everyone feel comfortable ( okay, not the people who hate him for NO good reason/s ), he talks like a NORMAL person and I'd also love going to a Yankee game with him! Heck he could even bring Barron and I could bring my grandson, as both boys are the same age. Yes, I feel THAT safe about him.

Cruz? He talks down to people, preaches at them, is 45 years old and acts like a 15-18 year old! His kids don't like him, are bratty, and I would trust him nor Heidi near my grandson!

What does him being Jewish have to do with anything?
Anti-jewish bigotry we don’t need.

Has nothing to do with anything! I found it a very odd comment to make too!
