Sorority ditches Kentucky Derby party over "racial connotations"
Fox News.com ^ | April 8 | Todd Starnes

There will not be a Kentucky Derby party at Dartmouth College this year because some students allege that one of the nation’s most prestigious horse races is racist.

And fair warning – before reading further you might want to make a batch of Mint Juleps. You’re going to need it.

Back in 2015, a group of Black Lives Matter protestors targeted an exclusive Kentucky Derby party hosted by the ladies of Kappa Delta Epsilon – calling the event overtly racist and “recreating an Antebellum South atmosphere on the Ivy League campus.”

The protestors accused the party of being a “bastion of racism, exclusion and oppression.” They chanted, “What is Derby? It’s the face of genocide” and “What is Derby? It’s the face of police brutality.”

I searched The New York Times archives and could find no evidence of police brutality at the Derby – nor could I find any evidence of ethnic cleansings.

I can only imagine the angst and soul searching among the fragile Ivy League snowflakes as they contemplated the grave offense they had caused to the perpetually-offended, hashtag protesters.

As the white population contracts/dwindles, the spaces they evacuate are being filled with imported “replacement Americans” (Hispanics & Asians). Despite the dense population of NJ, this phenomenon has created an environment with far fewer racial incidents than one might expect. NJ was one of the states where more than 25% of the population is foreigners.

Uh, the Kentucky Derby didn’t start until 1875. Apparently they don’t teach US History, or Latin, at Dartmouth.

I’ve worked with blacks who view race as playing a role in everything around them; it is downright pitiful. Any hiring or promotion of a non-black is viewed as an example of racism (even if there were 0 black applicants/candidates); any attempt to enforce company policies (even when applied across all races) are viewed as racist in origin.

You realize this can’t be fixed, and they are basically “attrited out” and replaced with Hispanics (who are viewed as griping less and working more).

I think we should duct tape these idiots in chairs and make them watch Blazing Saddles until their heads explode.

I would more say that’s what they pretend to believe, as that principle consistently gives them the whip hand, so to speak, over weak-minded whites.

Heh, the first time I had a mint julep, I nearly choked on it!

I don’t know why, but I had this impression it was going to be a “refreshing” and “light” drink, maybe a little sweet. Watching them make it, it looked like they were going to serve a nice, cool iced tea, with the mint and all.

Then when I took a big gulp, it was like battery acid to me.

LOL, halfway through writing this post, it occurred to me that I had no idea how a mint julep is actually made. The one I got, they threw ice in a glass, on top of that tossed in three mint leaves after crushing them slightly, dumped a tiny spoon of sugar on top, then filled the glass to the top with bourbon.

Except I never saw them add the bourbon. I probably had turned to say to someone “Hey, these look like they are going to be just the thing on a hot day!” or something like that as they filled them up.

We'll have to make our own individual stances, no matter how small they seem. One of mine is about to be to put a lawn jockey in my front yard. "Dixie" is my doorbell chime. I know these things are small, petty, and arguably white-trashy, but I start where I can start, and make the stances I can make, until I get better ideas and we have the numbers of those who are fed up enough to just throw it to the winds and not be backed down. Then perhaps we can start backing them down on the more important issues. But first we've got to stop being intimidated, by accusations of "rayciss", or insults of "white trashy" because anything we do which has a slant towards southern, stereotypically white, or redneck culture is going to be defined insultingly-if you listened to Wagner, one of these self-appointed tyrants would call you a nazi or something, so it's not a matter of "high" or "low" culture, it's whether they can make a spurious connection to it as being "rayciss", and as we see, they can find a way to do that to ice cream, if they want.

Exactly, and we have to start pushing back now, so we needn't wait to make the grand gesture or worry that something will be insulted as "white trashy", those are just terms of intimidation towards anything culturally "white" that isn't inarguably high art. I'm doing what I can do, now, just to do something.

Thank you, and I’d like to add that when at least three famous, so I’m told, people of whom I already know-Sarah Bernhard the “comedian”, this black crappper girl, and some male “comedian” can make suggestions that Sarah Palin be gang-raped by black males-and every one of these evil people made the same suggestion, some years apart, it seems to be some fetish with them-then I have less than no concern with their opinions of what’s rayciss.

I agree.

And these women should never have allowed anyone to intimidate them into forsaking their culture.

You’re suggesting Asians & Hispanics have fewer inter-racial issues? I can see that to a certain extent, unless you start taking into account the La Raza types.

Every I read about some violent happening in Jersey, one of Holder’s peeps is involved.

Human Resources management personnel across the USA should be directed to ignore any applicants from the idiotic schools that promote this BS. As employees, they are just trouble.

Did someone complain about the Lawn Jockey?

There is an interesting story behind those. People who helped the Underground Railroad put those out to signal a safe space. Depending upon how they were painted travelers knew they had food, shelter, and guidance to the next safe place.

They were first used as “markers” for the underground railroad in the north to let runaway slaves know what type of safe house it is...

Interesting. I didn't know that.

Well, just in case some miss you reference.....

My Old Kentucky Home Lyrics

The sun shines bright in the old Kentucky home,
‘Tis summer, the darkies are gay,
The corn top’s ripe and the meadows in the bloom,
While the birds make music all the day.
The young folks roll on the little cabin floor,
All merry, all happy and bright:
By’n by Hard Times comes a knocking at the door,
Then my old Kentucky Home, good night!

CHORUS
Weep no more, my lady,
Oh! weep no more to-day!
We will sing one song for the old Kentucky Home,
For the old Kentucky Home far away.

All of which raises the question. Are the BLM types actually LBGT types in blackface or are they actually darkies

I would argue it is because they are attempting to be known for compliance with the supreme edict “Thou shalt make a difference”
