Donald Trump's new top political strategist predicted on Friday the Republican presidential front-runner would amass the 1,237 delegates needed to clinch his party's nomination well before the Republican National Convention in July.
Veteran campaign tactician Paul Manafort was chosen by Trump on Thursday to oversee a fractious nomination process that many Republicans expect may not yield a clear winner before the convention.
Manafort said on CNN's "New Day" program that rival Ted Cruz, the U.S. senator from Texas, will not be able to dent Trump's delegate lead before California's June 7 primary.
"The reality is: Ted Cruz has seen his best day," Manafort said. "The reality is: this convention process will be over with sometime in June, probably June 7, and it'll be apparent to the world that Trump is over that 1,237 number."

"Later that day, however, he fled the capital for Kharkiv, travelling next to Crimea, and eventually to exile in southern Russia.[12]"

Is living in exile in Russia winning?
Nope, there isn’t a doubt in mind that Cruz will get the nomination. You just watch and see.
.) Heh, Heh.
That’s a comedy of errors right there. It wouldn’t happen if Trump had a competent organization in the state.
The are all downticket politicans and operatives.
If the GOPe money changers want only to support the down ticket.
Trump is a way for those lower downticket political class to get CASH.
Yes by the time California rolls around it’ll be ‘The Walking Ted’ or ‘Ted Man Walking’.
Good post by Nate Silver! Thanks!
I think it is fair to say that Trump is a bit weaker as a candidate than he was three weeks ago. He will win many coming states but by a little less margin. Enough to make a difference in the delegate count. It will be interesting to watch Kasich and how much progress he can make. He is beating Cruz in NY at the moment.
Only if you become orthodox.
I take full responsibility for what I don’t know.
Rumsfeld....remember this?
It’s what I don’t know that I don’t know that’s rough. :>)
I agree, Cruz is devious. He acts like a thieving coon-badger because he is too pathetic to earn his own delegates.

He takes what he has not rightfully earned.
Once again, Ted has proven to be a religious hypocrite. <-Epic Fail
Yes, despite the best efforts of the GOPe, Trump is going to win outright, leaving Cruz and all of his plots with delegates in the dust.
I think the % is something like 50%.
Paul Manafort being interviewed on CNN. Cruz has seen his better days, and Trump will get his 1,237 and much more.

Name me a single nomination process where candidates who were mathematically eliminated remained in the race for the express purpose of denying the leader the majority so it could go back to the convention!
Trump voters will never vote for Cruz or Kasich.
PRICELESS!
I keep reading that Wisconsin was a critical loss, a terrible misstep for the Trump campaign, etc., that it will mean absolutely a contested convention.
And Trump still needs a mere 58% of the remaining delegates to reach 1237.
Cruz needs something like 88 or 90%, and we’ve NEVER heard that kind of pronouncement about his campaign.
It’s always “They’ve scored tremendous victories, Trump’s on the run, etc, etc., blah, blah, blah.”
Do you imagine they might be just a tad prejudiced against Trump?
Cruz supporters are giddy at the prospect of a going to the convention and then showing how clever Cruz is in circumventing the Trump voters.
And then these guys actually think we will ever vote for him!
He is way ahead in the others.
Trump is going to be the nominee.
