Shock: Ted Cruz Takes Lead in Reuters Poll Over Donald Trump for First Time

by MIKE FLYNN5 Apr 2016

For the first time in the Republican primary, Reuters’ tracking poll shows Texas Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)97% leading Donald Trump among likely voters in the Republican primaries.

This is also the first time Donald Trump hasn’t led the tracking poll in 2016.

Cruz has the support of 39 percent of likely Republican voters nationwide, just ahead of Donald Trump, who has 37 percent support. Ohio Governor John Kasich is a distant third, with 23 percent support.

In the broader survey of all Republicans, rather than likely voters, Trump still has a four-point lead. This, however, is sharply down from the 28-point lead he enjoyed in the middle of March.

Trump’s current support among Republican likely voters is the lowest since the end of February, when Jeb Bush, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL)78% and Ben Carson were still in the race. Since the race narrowed to three remaining candidates, Trump has enjoyed the support of almost half of Republican voters, or 45 percent.

Trump’s collapse in the Reuters tracking poll began on March 26, when the GOP frontrunner topped out at 48 percent support. Since then, Trump has lost 13 points of support. He gained two points back in today’s tracking poll.

The Reuters tracking poll is based on a five-day rolling average of results. Each day, a new round of daily interviews are added to the tracking poll, while older interviews are dropped from the tracking poll. As a result, there can be daily blips in the poll. The overall trend, however, is unmistakable. Trump has lost a considerable amount of support in the past two weeks and Cruz’s support has surged.

Trump is losing this himself. No attack ads could do the harm trump is doing to himself. He can't control his emotions or his mouth.

Bingo! His loser statement tonight was over-the-top idiocy.

Congratulations to Cruz fans. Your candidate not only won, but exceeded his poll figures by around 6.5 percent. Very nice win for Cruz.

I understand Cruz’s victory speech was supposed to be upbeat and aimed at Hillary, not anti-Trump or only mildly so.

I hope you will as gracious to the Trump fans when New York, CT and RI rolls around, should the results be the other way.

I don’t see either Trump or Cruz getting to 1237 before the convention. But I do see Trump running as third-party, and I don’t see Cruz doing so.

Get Ready for Romney-Ryan - II.

**************************************************************

I did not and could not vote for Romney last time. Nothing has changed to make me change my mind.

I didn’t stay home on election day either, I went to the polling place and voted for the Libertarian candidate for president, also voted for the libertarian candidate for the U.S. Senate, instead of Mark Kirk, the worst rino in the senate.

I’m prepared to do it again.

Trump’s followers get their news from the National Enquirer and “The Don’s friend, Pecker.” Trump lacks the character to be president.

I happened to be watching CNN (on commercials I go back and forth to fox and CNN) when Bash had breaking news and said Carson announced he’s going home instead of to the next state. Then she said carson is going to make a statement at 9:00. I believed he was dropping out and so did the Cruz staffer who told Cruz it looked like Carson was quitting. Cruz apologized at least 4 times and yet trump and his supporters want to stone him for political reasons. Cruz isn’t perfect but I truly believe he would not have said anything if he thought Carson wasn’t quitting. Maybe I’m mistaken, but I think you pray on the prayer threads. Next time you talk with God ask Him if Ted deserves condemnation or grace.

The more voters learn about Ted Cruz, the more they like him.

He was clear on substance and sounded gracious and presidential. Now he’s beating trump nationally.

Yeah, negative media exposure. CNN, for example, is the 24/7 hate Trump network.

Yep polls are right... Let’s get behind Cruz and unite the party.

How will trump trash this poll which had him wining in the past?

He will win in the second vote. Now trump had no viable way to 1237 and won’t wins contested convention so he should drop out now.

All Cruz and trump need to do is keep the rule that requires wining 8 states to get on the ballot. So in effect only Cruz or trump can win.
