Electoral Map Is a Reality Check to Trump’s Bid
NY Times ^ | 04-02-2016 | JONATHAN MARTIN and NATE COHN

Donald J. Trump’s presidential candidacy has stunned the Republican Party. But if he survives a late revolt by his rivals and other leaders to become the party’s standard-bearer in the general election, the electoral map now coming into view is positively forbidding.

In recent head-to-head polls with one Democrat whom Mr. Trump may face in the fall, Hillary Clinton, he trails in every key state, including Florida and Ohio, despite her soaring unpopularity ratings with swing voters.

In Democratic-leaning states across the Rust Belt, which Mr. Trump has vowed to return to the Republican column for the first time in nearly 30 years, his deficit is even worse: Mrs. Clinton leads him by double digits in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania.

Mr. Trump is so negatively viewed, polls suggest, that he could turn otherwise safe Republican states, usually political afterthoughts because of their strong conservative tilt, into tight contests. In Utah, his deep unpopularity with Mormon voters suggests that a state that has gone Republican every election for a half-century could wind up in play. Republicans there pointed to a much-discussed Deseret News poll last month, showing Mrs. Clinton with a narrow lead over Mr. Trump, to argue that the state would be difficult for him.

You did not answer my question.

Yes I did. I can't help it if you refuse to understand it.

I disagree with you, I was in my mid-30s in the Reagan era, i see amazing parallels between Trump and Reagan. Their personalities are quite different, their style is very different, but cut from the same cloth, and standing up tall in against the terrible forces arrayed against this country, and having the ability to wake the people up from their slumber and giving them the encouragement and the strength to recognize and fight these enemies, above all helping the people to remember who they really are.

The spirit that was with Ronald is with Donald, the One who raised up Ronald, has raised up Donald. Whether we have the wit to ignore the confusion and the noise, and look at the message is another issue, but the message is the same, and the man who delivers the message now is very like the man who delivered this message a generation ago.

And it is my experience when talking to people my own age, who supported Reagan then, they believe, like I do, that Donald Trump is very like Ronald Reagan.

Are the names our parents give us, sometimes have a meaning beyond what they consciously understand, that in some way unknown to their temporal selves, a mystery, names that predict the gifts they have been given by God and the paths they are to follow?

The meaning of the Scottish name Donald is Great Chief/Warrior.

The meaning of the Scottish name Ronald is Mighty Counselor/Ruler.

The meaning of Celtic surname Reagan is Regal or King.

The meaning of the Scottish name Trump is Trumpeter or Drummer.

You tell me how Trump would be worse for America and the world than Hitlery.

It’s a simple question.

You’re right Hillary could be aced out by the FBI and Trump could be aced out at the convention. That said with the Supreme Court on the line I will %100 vote for the Republican nominee. Whoever that is.

Trump is a joke of a businessman and even more so of a celebrity.

How many billions of dollars are YOU worth Sparky?

As for being a 'celebrity', Trump has been a celebrity for longer than some of his detractors have been alive. And he'll still be viewed favorably after those critics have come and gone.

Like you.

I did answer you just don’t like it. Your question is moot because Trump can’t beat Hillary.

Plain and simple: Head-to-head match ups are meaningless at this point; in fact they won’t matter until September - October.

What’s not on your chart is the Iran hostage crisis, which began in Nov. 1979 and tracks to Carter’s polling decline. A similar international crisis could happen, but if so it would be Obama’s problem more than Hillary’s.

“I think Mrs. Bill will grab some “red” states nobody thought, maybe Louisiana, GA, who knows what else?”

She’ll beat Cruz in Arkansas for sure, and unlike Trump, he has no chance of stealing any blue states.

There are Black Swans galore for Hillary just waiting to take flight! Benghazi, Russian Reset, E-mail Server, Clinton Crime Foundation, .... Donald Trump hasn’t even started on her yet.

Also, most people making the Reagan-Trump comparison are forgetting that the 1980 election was all but overshadowed by the Iranian hostage crisis, and the failure to resolve that by Carter redounded to Reagan's benefit.

There simply isn't any analogous factor that will operate in Trump's favor in 2016. Further, those who are hoping for opposition research by Trump to drag Hillary's numbers down will have said hopes dashed on the rocks of millennial ignorance, and their collective indifference to anything that may have occurred in the early childhood.

Benghazi, Russian Reset, E-mail Server, Clinton Crime Foundation,

I care about those things. Democrat voters, however, could care less.

Maybe an actual felony criminal indictment on the emails might move some voters, but I don't see that happening.

It's not as simple as you seem to think it is, but I'll play.

We know Hillary would do really bad things as president. We have no idea what Trump would do as president because he changes his mind on everything every few minutes. So he could accidentally be better for America. As president. Since he won't be president he is merely part of the badness that is Hillary.

It doesnt matter if it is Trump or Cruz as the nominee. Both of these ass clowns will get their asses handed to by Hillary in November. They both totally made themselves look ridiculous in the primary season. They are incredibly damaged. People will just vote for Hillary because she is a democrat.
