How insane are New Jerseys gun laws? Governor Chris Christie has had to issue two general pardons in order to stop or reverse gross miscarriages of justice over nonsensical prosecutions. Will Christie go for the hat trick? Carlo Goias had better hope so, before he does a ten-year stretch in prison because he used a pellet gun while making a film in the Garden State:
Carlo Goias, whose stage name is Carlo Bellario, was charged under New Jerseys strict gun law. It requires permits for firearms, including the airsoft gun Goias used while filming a car chase scene.
Goias rejected a plea deal offer Tuesday that could have sent him to jail for less than a year. He faces up to a decade behind bars because of prior felony convictions that prosecutors say include theft and burglary.
I was shooting a movie I wasnt committing a crime intentionally, Goias recently told The Associated Press. Robert De Niro doesnt ask Marty Scorsese is if he has gun permits. Were actors. Thats for the production company to worry about.
Some state lawmakers say the case highlights the need for New Jersey to change its gun laws. Some say? Its true that Goias hasnt exactly been an angel, and with his record, no state would allow him to possess firearms. However, in other states, no one would have accused Goias of doing so.
A pellet gun does not use gunpowder, so its not a firearm except in New Jersey. The Airsoft gun Goias had doesnt even fire metal pellets it fires nonlethal plastic pellets under power of compressed air. Its a prop, not a threat.

Yup. Welcome to NJ. I can’t wait to get out of this s**thole state!
Dude, it’s a clue you guys shouldn’t be doing movies in Blue State Cities.... How effing dumba$$ are you?
Insanity rules the world right now, as well as, too many states in this country.
They should make movies in Kansas. We have gun vending machines on just about every corner. O’course theres not much crime or other shnanigans going on much to put on film. Just all us standing around bored, content and heavily armed.
Air is OK, but don’t compress it.
Couldn't have said it better , myself
except that NJ is now worse than NY (with the misnamed SAFE ACT)!!
Sorry son, ignorance of the law is no excuse, your living in a totalrian world now.
No offense for I do not live there but the recent crap I have been hearing coming from NJ, as far as I am concerned I would never take even a 6 figure job in the state again no offense.
I wouldn’t go to nj to throw up.
This is almost as good as the kid that got into trouble for making his pop tart look like a gun.
[as far as I am concerned I would never take even a 6 figure job in the state again no offense.]
If I didn’t have family and job obligations here in NJ, I would have been long gone years ago.
Robert De Niro doesnt ask Marty Scorsese is if he has gun permits. “
Of course not!!! DeNiro is a card carrying leftist moron. He has permission to anything. Ditto Scorsese.
This is what happens when you have a 'full time legislature' with not enough to do ,or feel that they have to justify their own existance.
They write stupid laws , and the penalties are generally fines (additional taxation!! )
that the electorate are not aware of, until they are confronted with the fact that they have violated the law, and are fined !
Didn’t Chris Christy say he was pro-2nd Amendment?
Lol..
NYC is even crazier with prop guns. To shoot a scene in NYC with a realistic gun one must:
-Get a permit from NYPD and pay absurd amounts to have police sit around on your set.
-Bring the permit to one of the very few licensed prop gun renters in Manhattan and pay absurd rates to rent one. No, you cannot buy the prop guns.
-Keep it locked inside the special case provided by the prop gun company and only unlock it when on set during the times listed on the permit and under police supervision.
Gee, I guess that’s why so many New York-themed movies and TV shows end up being shot here in Pittsburgh.
Most States are communists like controlled. They are literally insane and so far to the left that they make up anything they can to support their insanity. NJ is insane.
I hate when the gun sticks in those things and you have to shoot the glass out to get it.
I pretty much make it a rule not to travel to any state east of the Mississippi and north of the Mason-Dixon Line.
