A chorus of Republicans, from hard-core supporters of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) to nervous establishment figures like Mitt Romney, is telling Gov. John Kasich (R-Ohio) to stop campaigning and let voters consolidate behind a single Not-Trump candidate.
Kasich's response: Thanks, but you don't know what you're talking about.
"When we get to Pennsylvania, we get to New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island let me tell ya, if I drop out, Donald Trump is absolutely going to be the nominee," Kasich said after a town hall in the suburbs of Milwaukee. "I'm not out here to stop Donald Trump, but I can tell you the reality of it. I don't believe Sen. Cruz can come to the east and win...

It’s all a gamble for each of them. Kasich and Cruz are gambling that if and when it goes to the convention, each will get the nomination. Trump is gambling that he gets the delegates he needs before the convention because if he doesn’t, he loses at the convention. He and his supporters probably shouldn’t have pissed off Trump’s adopted party with all the whining and childish antics. It would have given him a better shot if/when it does go to the convention.
I just re-read my last few days of posts. I see 1.5 that could possibly be taken badly, and several that are effectively pro-Trump. Have a look.
Both Kasich and Cruz need to drop out for the good of the country.
Delegates are already switching.
LOL.
Trump swept the south big time.
Cruz is going to get killed in NE.
I have to believe Kasich is lying through his teeth.
Mercy!
Just give me the summary/average/moving average.
Hang in there!
He just took $500k of Soros money
Grampa: Here’s my analysis of where we stand, as posted elsewhere a couple of times. I think we’ll all get through this just fine. So, I’m in favor of everyone taking a pill and lowering the heat of the rhetoric.
The perfect play is this:
Trump arrives with the most by a fair margin, but not the required majority.
Cruz arrives with a substantial minority, well short of Trump, but enough to cause trouble.
Cruz asks Trump, Whats it worth to you to have a coronation today? I have a few ideas you may wish to consider.
Cruz walks away with some excellent Conservative Gimmes. Trump gets Cruzs backing on the floor, and we all smile at one another.
Win / Win.
Who said The Art of the Deal could only be played by Trump?
“whining and childish antics”
Let me put this succinctly. If the GOP steals the election, it’s the end of the GOP.
They don’t care about the party or the country, if they keep their jobs.
The Republicans want to continue to be a coterie of spineless, rubber-stamping eunuchs ... at least when fighting Democrats.
So this election may mean the end of the political world as we know it. Let’s hope so.
What you said! I’ve been wondering the same thing.
I don’t know Ohio election laws...sorry.
Cruz has not won anything outside of Texas except low turn out caucus states where voters are subjected to coercion for hours.
He’s a robot!!!
if those are correct, Cruz has not one bit of a chance. Not a bit.
Kaysick is an idiot. He can’t win and just shows his narcissism by staying in thinking he has some kind of control over anything at all. He has none. He is nothing. I feel bad for Ohio. Well maybe not. They voted for the jerk.
You have no argument. Cruz could not win in the South (and elsewhere) because other candidates were sucking votes off him. Just add those votes up, it’s fairly easy, probably 4th grade arithmetic.
Here is how it will work out. And I worked very VERY closely with the present congressman from MI 1, who turned out to be another turn coat.
Trump get a majortiy. It goes to the floor. He has a meeting with the GOPe and tells them that he has a nice billion dollar check for them if they hand him the nomination...or millions for their favorite GOPe congress candidates.
Guess who folds.
I don’t think Donald has a checkbook bigger than $100M. I think his billions are wrapped up tightly in Real Estate value that can’t be unlocked without selling huge chunks that would put his business interests out of business.
IOW: I see a liquidity problem in your analysis.
