On the 16 March 2016 edition of CNN's New Day, Chris Cuomo revealed that he was wearing his father's guayabera shirt, which was "given to him by Fidel Castro as a gift." Cuomo, who was covering President Obama's visit to Cuba, underlined that "it didn't mean something to him because it came from Fidel Castro necessarily, but because it marked conversations going on decades ago that were the same as those today." The anchor summarized that for his father, former New York Governor Mario Cuomo, "the concern was the freedom of the people. What is the point of this communist regime if it is not to truly make everyone equal — not at the lowest level; not by demoralizing everyone; but lifting everyone up? I heard this exchange yesterday on Rush and it was absolutely flabbergasting the amount of commie-lib pablum spouted by Cuomo.
yeah, the only way to “lift everyone up” is by allowing them to work hard and be rewarded for it, it’s called economic freedom, or capitalism - you MUST produce wealth to pay for safety nets. There is absolutely no way you can “lift everyone up” when you’re encouraging everyone to not work. There’s only one possible outcome, equality of misery, lower all the boats.

My disgust over cuomos period is quite high. A dear friend, thoracic surgeon (died 12 years ago) was roommates with mr. fidel at jesuit school. Fidel’s dad owned up to him being his bastard son, and paid for fancy private education. My friend said the man was simply...evil with retribution to turn the whole island into his own plantation. Also, my friend witness his father shot to death by che’, in the street outside their home- when he would not (could not- they were not there) give up their firearms on Batista’s list. Said che’ was a sadistic psychopath (and eventually Castro couldn’t have a famous che’ except as a memory, and gave him away to the Bolivians and the CIA- not speculation- fact). This man had incredible medical horror stories from the wards of the “best” hospitals in the country— and finally escape cleverly. Will never forget him.
