Australian minister says Trump phenomenon 'terrifying'

A senior Australian government minister on Thursday called Donald Trump's campaign for the U.S. presidency "terrifying" and warned it risked casting the Republican Party into the wilderness if he wins nomination.

Australian government ministers rarely make critical comments about elections in other countries, especially stalwart allies like the United States, which Australia relies on heavily for military backing in the Asia-Pacific.

Australian Industry Minister Christopher Pyne, a cabinet member of the ruling conservative Liberal-National coalition, criticized the violence at recent Trump rallies and said that his rise was casting a pall over American democracy.

"Now, democracy should be robust but it certainly shouldn't be violent," Pyne said in an interview on Australia's Channel Seven television network.

"And I think the Donald Trump phenomenon is a real problem for the United States, making their democracy look kind of weird," he said.

Republican front-runner Trump warned on Wednesday of riots if he is denied the party's presidential nomination, only days after Trump supporters and protesters clashed at a rally for the Republican in Chicago that was later scrapped.

Republican Party leaders are appalled at Trump's incendiary rhetoric and reject policies such as his vow to deport 11 million illegal immigrants, temporarily ban Muslims from the United States and build a wall along the Mexican border.

The party tried to play down Trump's riot comments, which have raised the temperature even more in a heated White House race.

Trump has made it clear that even with our allies, the USA gets the shaft.

He’ll still keep allies - And he’ll strengthen our bonds with other allies - But our days of footing the bill at the restaurant will be over.

And that scares these people quite a bit. Except Israel. Israel has no problem with us taking the damned oil.

It is strange that Mr. Pyne would voice such unsubstantiated concerns about an American who is vying to be the Republican presidential candidate.

Mr. Pyne should spend a little time looking into the issues and context of the "violence," rather than embarrassing himself with shallow, false claims.

Maybe someone asked or paid Mr. Pyne to make such a nonsensical statements. He could not be more wrong. The cause of violence is by paid communists disrupters. Is he the best Australia has? Their country is in trouble with that kind of "leadership."

Does this moron also blame rape victims for dressing too attractively? Trump supporters were the peaceful victims of DEMOCRAT PARTY SUPPORTING THUGS who organized an attack to STOP A PEACEFUL POLITICAL ASSEMBLY with VIOLENCE...before being praised by the Boston Globe as "patriots" and "not thugs".

If there is something nasty and violent about our politics it is the DEMOCRAT PARTY and their THUG WING and the sickening willing propaganda of left-wing media that blames the victims of violence for making the violent upset by disagreement.

It’s the same sick mentality that blames Israel for Palistinian/Muslim violence. Israel exists, therefore everything is her fault.

Trump exists, everything is his fault.

Hummm...didn’t we just go through something similar recently with everything being Bush’s fault?

Since Cruz is the surrogate for Bush, then the attitude has to be coming from the other side. This would be a Hillary/Sanders/communist party pile of steaming lies..per usual.

just how is it that “all the people in the know” worldwide, knows more about TRUMP than the millions in the USA, who voted for him?

maybe the ones “in the know”, know just what Trump may let us in on and that we won’t at all be happy about it!

I’d be terrified right now too if I was leaching off the tax-payers.
Damn parasites.
Only ones deserving to be supported by the tax-paying citizens is the MILITARY.

Its a good thing this doofus doohickey was not around when Australia was being founded by heroes, brave, strong pioneers like Mr trump. This fool is so the opposite of those founders.

I absolutely love the national anthem of Australia “We are Australian” written by Bruce from the “Seekers”. It tells the history in song and this guy cannot relate to that unfortunately.

Australia’s had 4 prime ministers in five years and he’s worried about the US. Go back to trying to figure out if Tony Abbott was schtuping his chief of staff.
