David Brooks has written some wonderfully insightful books and articles. Bobos in Paradise was fantastic, and The Organization Kid absolutely nailed it.
Then he lost it, and me, with the whole fluorescent intellect crease in the trousers thing.
Perhaps he became too isolated in The Marix of The Political Elite.
It’s a shame, really.

What the MSM doesn't understand or reputes to understand is that Trump controls the environment he is in. He will not let the MSM control that environment. They think they and they alone own the communication agenda. Trump is telling and showing them that he controls communications. Come at him and he will mock and destroy you. He renders the press impotent which they are. They sit around and think if only they write the right op ed piece or ask the right gotcha question they will bring Trump down. Such fools. He doesn't need them except to take their scalp and display to his followers. No being nice, just eliminate and move on to the White House.
Think he will start to go after Linda Graham and why is Kasich still running? He wants to question Kasich supporters as to why they are voting for a dead man walking.
He is starting to go after the GOPe and telling them if he doesn't get the nomination, they are dead.

Reading Or listening to Brooks is good for on thing, hearing/reading what the out of touch republican elite morons in the echo chamber of DC believe and think. Nothing more.

Regardless of who you support not too many people will argue with Trump’s assessment of David Brooks. I'm a Cruz guy but I love this non-PC talk. I'm really sick of the "my esteemed colleague" and "my good friend so and so" we get from our reps in Congress. If Trump wins I hope he continues this.

I'm no fan of Brooks, but the issue for me is that the Donald again resorts to 4th grade name-calling as his first reaction to criticism.
This is one of the many reasons I cannot support Trump.
Even more disappointing is the immediate response of the Trump fan intelligentsia on FR is to cheer on the 4th grade bullying insults. It makes me really think less of them as well.
I shudder at the concept of a meeting with Putin where the Donald emerges and addresses the media with "Putin is a real poopy head!"

David Brooks is not a ‘conservative’ by any stretch of the imagination. Unless it is in his own mind.

It’s a different world now with the advent of social media. I dare say that Trump has a lot more followers (”ink”) the David Brooks does.

Regardless of who you support not too many people will argue with Trumps assessment of David Brooks. Trump is right. It takes a considerable degree of willful stupidity to be as consistently wrong Brooks proves himself to be with every stroke of a key and utterance on NPR.

“Donald Trump is epically unprepared to be president,” Brooks wrote. Among his complaints about the billionaire businessman: - He has no realistic policies, no advisers, no capacity to learn. His vast narcissism makes him a closed fortress.
- He is running for president with less preparation than most of us would undertake to buy a sofa.
- Trump is perhaps the most dishonest person to run for high office in our lifetimes. All politicians stretch the truth, but Trump has a steady obliviousness to accuracy.
- He is a childish man running for a job that requires maturity. He is an insecure boasting little boy whose desires were somehow arrested at age 12.
All of these things he may be, David, but a guy who endorsed Barack Obama is perhaps not the best guy to be making the argument.

You understand completely what
Trump says and means, black and white. America loves a straight shooter, a man, a leader. Who listens to the press any more. They are liars and liberals. America, meaning me, is the bad guy, it's my fault, I should be punished. Glad my big brother Donald is looking out for me and America.

David Brooks has written some wonderfully insightful books and articles. Bobos in Paradise was fantastic.
I liked BOBOS a lot, too, but I haven't looked at it lately to see if my opinion would be different now. It was a New York Times notable book in 2000.
In the 1980s and 1990s I thought the New York Times was the greatest newspaper and I read it every day even though I'm in California. Now I loathe and despise it, and I won't go to any New York Times link.
Today we know that fact-checkers found that many parts of BOBOS were the exact reverse of the truth. I'm angry at the Times, and Brooks, for gulling me all those years, and I won't get fooled again.

conservative New York Times columnist David Brooks Why do they keep on insisting Brooks is a conservative? If he is a conservative then I have lost the concept of what a conservative is I guess.
To: Lurkinanloomin
Sometimes Trump is criticized for not expressing himself better, but I disagree. For example, this morning there was a thread here accusing Trump of talking at a 5th grade level. Well, as Sydney Greenstreet put it in the Maltese Falcon, "I'm for plain speaking and clear understanding". David Brooks is a dummy. What more needs to be said?
