Concealed weapon owner shoots hatchet-wielding attacker in Wash. 7-Eleven
Washington Post ^ | March 14, 2016 | Michael E. Miller

A masked man burst into a 7-Eleven near Seattle early Sunday morning, swinging a hatchet and slicing the store clerk.

Before the masked man could seriously hurt anyone, however, a customer who had been drinking his morning coffee pulled out a concealed weapon and fatally shot the attacker.

Authorities did not name the attacker or the customer, but they did hail the concealed weapon owner as a hero.

This could have been disastrous,” King County Sheriff Sgt. Cindi West told KIRO 7. “Had this guy not shot, who knows what would have happened. We might have a dead clerk right now, and instead we have a dead bad guy.”

The clerk, Kuldeep Singh, suffered minor cuts to his stomach. He, too, thanked the customer for saving his life.

Excellent!

More people need to learn to shoot, get CC licenses-- that will cut down on violent crime.

Although supporters of concealed weapon ownership argue that it discourages crime, some studies have shown it has no effect. Other studies have found it actually increases crime.

What a bunch of dreck. The 42 states that allow private citizens to carry concealed weapons have, on average, a 25% lower violent crime rate, a 20% lower murder rate and a 40% lower robbery rate than the 8 "may issue" states where permits are almost impossible to come by. Firearms are used for self-defense more than 2 million times a year, 3x-5x times the estimated number of violent crimes committed with guns.

What do you bet that the attacker didn’t have a concealed hatchet permit?

Never bring a hatchet to a gunfight.

(someone had to say it)

I hope that the hero was able to finish his coffee.

The Wash. Post writer/poster/fool tried his best to slant the story, using the word “appears” when it is obvious that a gun did stop a vicious assault which wounded the 7/11 store clerk, and which, if left unstopped, would have seen him killed.

Look at the weasely words and writing style bias in this article. It is the norm for the WP, even in its obituaries. They never left a chance to smear good people pass them by.

My son, after having come back from fighting in Iraq, was attacked in his car by a drunk Mexican (legal). The guy broke one of his side windows and just as he was winding up to deliver a punch through the window, my son pulled out his legally carried (CWP) gun and arrested the guy (held him at gunpoint for the police).

The man plead guilty in court and had to make full restitution for the damages and apologize for the assault.

If it weren’t for my son’s Army weapons training and learned restraint, there would have been one dead fool.

Most concealed weapons carriers are trained, by the military, police, NRA, or gun clubs.

It’s the drunks and criminals that I fear out on the streets.

Thank goodness for your son being armed.

After your comments I read the article. You’re right the reporter turns it into an editorial. One robber was killed and had a fake gun. Then the reporter says something like “But guns have saved lives too....” (Implying that the fake gun shoot was wrong.)

Anyway - glad your son’s story and this 7-11 story turned out okay. As liberal as the state of Washington is, the gun laws are still good - although they are working on making it harder on law-abiding citizens.

A few years ago there was some nut with a baseball bat hitting people at an outdoor mall in Seattle. One guy he knocked down carried. He shot the guy dead. Justified. As crazy as the story was I think there was one article on it and then they were done. No moaning over if he should have been shot, no interviews of the victims that were hurt (not badly hurt - more just getting knocked over), it was sort of weird as it happened in a popular mall at mid-day.

(Hmmm - maybe that’s why!)

This in WaPo?

Yes, but as usual the slimy WaPo has to put a negative spin on it in their story:

There is little consensus on the efficacy of concealed weapons in reducing crime, however. Although supporters of concealed weapon ownership argue that it discourages crime, some studies have shown it has no effect. Other studies have found it actually increases crime.

Anecdotal evidence abounds on both sides of the argument.

In January, a man in Renton, Wash., just a few miles away from Burien, brought his concealed weapon into a movie theater. Dane Gallion was reportedly worried about public shootings. Instead of stopping one, however, he committed one, shooting a woman in the back in what his attorney later claimed was an accident. Gallion was arrested and charged with third-degree assault.

Similarly, a Michigan woman was charged with misdemeanor reckless use of a handgun after she shot at shoplifters fleeing a Home Depot in October. After she was sentenced to 18 months probation, Tatiana Duva-Rodriguez said she would “never help anybody again.”

Both individuals were stripped of their rights to carry concealed weapons.

The masked attacker is believed to have been in his 40s, according to authorities. His identity will be released at a future date.

Yep, we have seen that before. It says we are hiding details that don't fit Obama’s agenda.
