What a bunch of dreck. The 42 states that allow private citizens to carry concealed weapons have, on average, a 25% lower violent crime rate, a 20% lower murder rate and a 40% lower robbery rate than the 8 "may issue" states where permits are almost impossible to come by. Firearms are used for self-defense more than 2 million times a year, 3x-5x times the estimated number of violent crimes committed with guns.

Story reminds me of a scene from an excellent post-asteroid strike movie from Australia called "These Final Hours"

My wife and I were watching and she asked, "I guess Australia doesn't have CCW?" Nope.

Here is the scene where a crazy guy on drugs (movie portrays most citizens as either in church, or drugged out of their minds as they wait for the fireball and tsunami to overtake them) in a few hours. Crazy guy surprises and kidnaps the protagonist and forces him to drive around attacking people. Great end of the world flick.

Note to hachiet-wielding thugs at 7-11 convenience stores: a CCW permit holder is the only one on the planet that can mete out instant capital punishment on the scene.
