The Hollow Man (Rush Limbaugh, Cruz & Conservatism)
Hotgas.net ^ | March 13, 2016 | Joseph K

Posted on 03/13/2016 7:54:48 PM PDT by CreviceTool

For 26 years, Rush Limbaugh has insisted that conservative values, clearly and passionately articulated, will win every time. By conservative values Rush meant: God, country, family, community, liberty, individualism, personal responsibility, limited government, and free markets. Reagan was the model, and the promise: it had happened once, and could happen again.

Easier said than done.

“What a load of crap this is...”
***********************************I**
It is indeed a load of crap. And the gullible are enthusiastically wolfing down their crap sandwiches & washing them down with massive gulps of the kool-aid they are being given.

Thank you so much for this post. It is perhaps the single best essay I have read on this
subject that has every pundit in America scribbling away. I will eagerly seek out the
other writings of this author.

The article conveniently leaves out the first part of Cruz’s statement, when he, you know, blamed the protesters.

You can criticize Sen Cruz for whatever you want but he exemplifies lifelong conservatism something Mr Trump has never even heard of until his last????? iteration. While Sen Cruz has taken some bad steps during this very unconventional race , his ideals and goals are remarkably clear and unwavering. On the other hand Mr Trump’s previous ????romance with any stance other than conservatism has brought with it Clintonesque version of truth because during these 5 minutes he truly, passionately believes in all things conservative. Until he doesn’t.

The difference between Ted Cruz and Donald Trump is that Ted Cruz looks out at a crowd and sees himself, while Trump looks into a mirror and sees the crowd. Trump may be crude, inarticulate, and occasionally boorish, but he looks back to an older, better America, the essence of which is its people, its citizens, themselves crude, inarticulate, and occasionally boorish; but who, like Trump, are animated by a vigorous spirit that, once unleashed, will make America great again. Trump is the means; the voters are the end.

Rush was correct — conservatism, properly articulated, will win every time. But conservatism is more than a set of bullet points. It is ultimately a form of trust, in people, and that, if left alone, they can manage to get things right. Trump may not have all of the bullet points in line, but the trust is there. Trust is the ultimate gift — if a candidate shows that he trusts the people, the people will trust him in return. Cruz finally could not trust, could not give, and so receives nothing back. And so he grasps at the only hand being held out to him, the cold, dead hand of the establishment, that destroys everything it touches.

All of this has become a nightmare. Wake up! It’s only a dream.

Rush.. where did this turn into your side and our side. After all these years, how can we have such a divided opinion on who can do the best for our country. You say you play golf with Trump. I heard you say he was a nice guy. Do you know Cruz also? Is he a nice guy too?

I could turn on the radio and find a friend. Last week, Rush was not the same Rush. He was making fun of Trump. So unlike him to do that to one who is on our side.

I fear tonight, we are losing Donald Trump.. and I don’t want that to happen. People are being fed lies and more lies. Almost everyone on the left and too many on the right.. are against Trump...those who have a voice or those who vote. I don’t believe I’ve been that wrong about Trump. I know he’s no saint.. I’m not asking for one.. I just want someone to kick the hell out of the left and those who are destroying our country. We’ve had no one to fight for us... congress is in this for themselves... but I do believe Trump does not need this in his life.. he just wanted to fix it. IF I had all his money and was a businessman, I’d care enough to do something about it.. so why wouldn’t he.

It’s turned into a horrible way to elect a President. I put the beginning of all this mess squarely on obama and his ilk. They have been in a position of power for the first time since the 60’s and they’ve gone hog wild with power. So has the republican party. That leaves us with no one. Trump was for us.. and that’s the only one who was/is.

So why not flip a coin? Come on, anyone who wants to be president in 2016 has to have something really wrong with them. Cruz’s crazy accusation that Trump caused the rally violence, all his dorky weirdness, Trumps bizarre appearance, his previous liberal positions that he held into his 60’s, the reality shows and holly wood terribleness.

“Rush was correct — conservatism, properly articulated, will win every time. But conservatism is more than a set of bullet points. How does this make sense? Why is the trust there? The only trust I have in him is that he is hated by a lot of the right people. And no, that doesn’t make me trust him. It would be so much easier if he wasn’t a bizarre orange weirdo who is a reality show star for years and pro-wrestling regular as himself, when he didn’t have to be. Come on, that is weird.

He [Cruz] had a perfectly good Senate seat, a bird’s eye view of stopping the Obama agenda and in some ways, he did stop some key parts of it...

But Cruz also let so much die on the vine. He just didn’t keep the conservative heat on in any consistent way. And that whole “Mitch is a liar” embarrassment - embarrassing because everyone and their dog already knew long before that McConnell & Co. were total liars. Cruz was just horrible right before Trump entered the race (Trade, Corker, Globalization, Immigration of all kinds, little to no support for other conservatives running, etc.) Cruz is running a schitzy campaign; adopting Trump’s ideas yet trashing DT even to the detriment of Ted’s own constitutional principles. Unforgivable things are beginning to pile up - insulting Trump voters (by father and son Cruz), not standing up for the 1st amendment regarding protestors, joining with GOPe Bushes.

LOL. It was Palin who gave Rafael his Senate seat on a silver platter. Why would she feel snubbed?
