Cruz to Unveil Senate Endorsements This Week
National Review ^ | March 7, 2016 | Elaina Plott

Ted Cruz’s colleagues may loathe him, but they seem to have found somebody else they dislike more. With the prospect of Donald Trump’s nomination looming over the GOP, Cruz is set to unveil endorsements from more than four senators this week, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

Until now, Cruz had failed to earn the endorsement of even a single Senate colleague, a fact Trump and other presidential rivals have been quick to use against the Texas freshman. But as many senators see Marco Rubio’s prospects dimming, some are beginning to make peace with Cruz, convinced that he’s the only candidate who can stop Trump. If Rubio can’t clinch his home state of Florida on March 15, yet more may come forward to back the devil they know.

The forthcoming endorsements are a sign that the members of the upper chamber are beginning to abandon their personal grievances in order to preserve the Republican party of old.

I think the Republican party is not worth preserving, especially considering the alternative.

NR might want to drop that line. Kind of proves the points critics of the "Conservative" media have been point out that NR writers are not really about "Conservativism" but more about being GOPE operatives

This is the GOP propping up Cruz to stop Trump. Common line from Trump is that he doesn’t even have one senator endorsing him.

Cruz presents threat to Trump’s lead and voila, Senate endorsements. They are ALL in this together.

Whoever is the nominee is going to have to unify the party as much as possible, “GOPe” and “insurgents” alike, in order to have the best chance to win in November. All the candidates recognize this.

This is impossible. Cruz supporters been telling us for weeks that the GOPe had decided they prefer Trump to Cruz. (Hope not very many were foolish enough to believe it.)

I hope they make a huge deal about these GOPe endorsements and it backfires spectacularly.

Trump gets Sessions, Cruz gets Graham.

LOL!

It’s not Jeff Sessions!

EXACTLY!!!!!!

Looks like Ted is about to become the GOP's favorite, and they can all save the GOP together. Cruz is the Principled Conservative? Seems like he wouldn't want their endorsement. What a beggar he's become.

And don't forget Rush and Levin: The GOP hate Trump but they fear Cruz. What exactly will Cruz owe them if they save his campaign and he gets the most delegates? I think most likely they will use him to stop Trump and throw Cruz under the bus at the convention. And the GOP goes marching on.

“NR might want to drop that line. Kind of proves the points critics of the “Conservative” media have been point out...”

Yeah. I had the same thought.

Kind of a back-handed swipe at Cruz.

NR hates Cruz as much as Trump. They want to see an open convention.

It’ll be like this.

Yesterday: Cruz sucks cause no one likes him. He can’t even get any of his fellow Senators to endorse him.

Tomorrow: Cruz sucks because Senators are endorsing him.
