CNN/ORC National Poll – Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz Suffer Stunning Drops, Trump and Carson Gain…
The Conservative Treehouse ^ | 2/29/2016 | Sundance

A new CNN/ORC national poll (full pdf below) is being highlighted in the media discussion based on the top-line results: Donald Trump 49% !

However, that’s not the real headline in the data. The real lead story should be the damage Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz have done to themselves as they continue a scorched-earth campaign.

The first signals of a backlash appeared over the weekend’s polling when it became clear Senator Rubio and Senator Cruz where losing support at an exponential rate the longer they continued to make unfounded accusations. Donald Trump and Ben Carson are benefactors of the Rubio/Cruz kamikaze mission.

Don’t worry....after the Nov election and as Donald starts to assemble his team without the help of the GOP national parade thugs....Trump will ask the GOP elites to sign a loyalty oath to him, which they will refuse. He’ll isolate them for the next four years and treat them like dirt each time they come to the White House.

If you ask me....they’ve screwed up the GOP franchise name and brand for the next decade. It wouldn’t take much for me to vote down each guy.

I guess the Trumpsters are feeling doubts about tomorrow. That must be why we get these re-posts every five minutes of how dear leader is polling.

Reality is in front of your face - might as well open your eyes instead of clenching your eyes tight and clicking your heels together to try to find yourself in a safe and quiet place where Trump isn't sweeping the detritus to the sidelines.

And trump will still not be a conservative.

He is the essential RINO.

Gotta claim an affinity to the Republican Party in order to be a RINO - he disdains it as much as we Conservatives do. He may not be the most conservative choice but at the moment he is heads and shoulders abpve anything on the Left side of the aisle and also more electable than anyone on our side of the aisle - maybe some folks got so used to Obama that they would welcome Hillary or Bernie as a follow on show but some of us want a chance to start picking up at least some of the pieces - this all-or-nothing bull%$hit is what got us where we are - we did it to ourselves and seem to want to keep on doing it.

I was voting age when Reagan ran and heard this same crap...he’s a jingoistic warmonger, he’ll get everybody killed. Only politicians and career ones who are lawyers only can save your kids from the meatgrinder. Get your head out of your rear, turn off right wing conservative radio to be told how to think correctly and do it for yourself. Thankfully a sizable chunk of the Republican voters are not buying the crap being shoveled out and promised by the GOPe, even if their stalking horse comes in two flavors..An Uncle Levin parroting John Bircher or a RINO like Rubio.

He has never had anything remotely close for him. To a politician this is intoxicating.

Doesn't that make you a wee bit uneasy? I want politicians to be in fear of us, at all times. No more games, no more lies, no more fecklessness, no more silence in the face of evil. I want action and achievement.

“Perhaps the ONLY mistake Trump has made in this campaign was to not REQUIRE GOPe types to also sign that pledge - in other words, if Trump ended up with the nomination, they would PLEDGE to support him. Prior to that, they could support other GOP candidates...but he didn’t demand that, when he could have.”

So it seems. But Trump doesn’t say everything. If he did require it and they did pledge, it would be very damaging to release it if they didn’t uphold it.

That is so true. I used to think Cruz was a good guy and that Trump was hitting him a little too hard. What this has shown the world is that Cruz really is a liar and a cheat and a rattle snake. He is lower than Trump.

Yes Cruz is a snake...but so is Rubio...Trump must be looking better to a lot of people about now.

Right now this is a window in time where Trump could do some great things. Politicians are always politicians. They never clean up.

“As a Military guy, Guys like Trump get you killed whipping the drums to a fever pitch.”

"Guys like Trump"? That statement is unfounded.

Our soldiers should only be defending threats to America.

But, yes, ISIS is a threat to America, wouldn't you agree?

If we lose Americans while fighting ISIS and its ilk, then they will have died as heroes and defenders of their country.

Defeating Islamic Terror might necessarily involve "whipping the drums to a fever pitch", because if we don't destroy Islamic Extremism, many more Americans will die, and a lot of them won't be soldiers.

I don't see President Trump "whipping the drums" against somebody who isn't a threat.

Leave that to the neocons...

I think it was Trump's inability to explain his healthcare plan beyond "the lines" that has really boosted his popularity.

Or it could have been his failure to repudiate David Duke in his CNN interview.

Or maybe it's just name recognition.

Trump cannot spend or levy taxes without congressional authorization. He needs 60 votes in the Senate for that. You know Western Union is a major contributor to Republican and Democrat congress critters, no?

Lacking congressional authority, do you really want him to go full Obama and start issuing illegal executive orders? I’d love to see him reverse every Obama executive order but not start down the same crappy path Obama took.
