(CNN)Ted Cruz argued that since he's the only candidate who has been able to beat Donald Trump, he's the candidate conservatives should turn to as the chief alternative to the businessman.
"It is now apparent that the only campaign that can beat Donald Trump and that has beaten Donald Trump is our campaign," he said in an interview on "State of the Union" with CNN's Jake Tapper.
Cruz argued that while Trump has "consistently managed to score in the 20s and 30s," many voters view him unfavorably and are concerned about his chances in a general election.
"An awful lot of Republicans are very concerned that Donald Trump is not the right candidate to go head-to-head with Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders," Cruz said. "And as the field narrows, we're seeing more and more people coming to us."
Cruz dismissed the idea that he underperformed in South Carolina, a state with a strong religious and evangelical population -- both attributes that should favor him. And he downplayed Trump's victory, arguing that his lead narrowed in recent weeks and the margin of victory should have been greater.
Cruz also swiped that Rubio should have done better in South Carolina against Trump because the Florida senator had endorsements from the state's popular Sen. Tim Scott, and Gov. Nikki Haley. Cruz argued that when he had endorsements from evangelical leaders in Iowa, he was able to beat Trump, not place second...

Greta: Yes, Donald Trump helped Tahmooressi, the American soldier who rotted in a Mexican jail (Video)
Posted on August 25, 2015 by Paladin Justice
Greta is great. Sheâs head and shoulders above the rest of the losers at Fox.
In this video we learn that without fanfare, Donald Trump helped an American held captive by our great friend Mexico. I recall posting about his case last year. I believe he was an American soldier who accidentally crossed the border into Mexico and was seized and held in a stinking Mexican sewer/jail, while Obama played golf and did nothing to help him.
Viva La Donald!

âOff the Record,â 8/20/15: Trump gave the US Marine who was held in Mexico money to help jumpstart his life after months of captivity. Pres. Obama didnât even pick up a phone for him

Now what was it Cruz has done for whom? Besides himself????
Something to add to that Trump resume, that many folks might not even know about....
When Trump bought the property to develop Trump Tower, in NYC, he also bought the airspace of the adjacent building (the Tiffany’s building). He was the FIRST developer, at the time, to do such a thing. Why purchase the airspace? So that no other building could be built higher (than existing) to block the views of his property.
This was pure genius. Whenever you buy/lease space, there’s usually no guarantee that someone won’t come along, afterward, to build something that blocks your $1M view....unless!!! your developer purchased the airspace rights, in front of your view. Other developers followed his lead, in order to protect their property values.
Indeed!!
Thanks for putting the results in an easy to grasp format.
Do you seriously maintain that running a real estate business has contributed more to the security, opportunity, and liberty of the American people than successfully arguing for Constitutional rights in front of the Supreme Court and literally standing alone in the Senate to resist Obamacare?
Wow. Fascinating, I didn’t know that.
And he also took the Ice Rink that had been sitting there costing the tax payers money and finished it ‘under budget and ahead of schedule’
He has also finished the Old Post Office in Washington D.C. and it’s ready to open, again ‘under budget and ahead of schedule’
This is the way America should be ran, for it’s people and for a way of life....instead of some dirty rotten ‘politicians’ and ‘governors’ and others with their hand out for their own pockets!!!
GO.TRUMP.GO!!!
His recent statements are sounding absurd. His entire pivot since his 11th commandment days has been a disaster.
What really caught my eye was a rally he held in Myrtle Beach, hours before the Primary itself. Cruz lost Horry County 49% to 16%. Their internal polling had to have shown they would be trounced, yet they wasted their time there instead of spending more time in a County they could have won, such as Greenville.
This campaign is losing to Trump...and itself.
He may have defeated Trump in Iowa, but Trump defeated Cruz in NH and SC. Kasich defeated Cruz in NH, and Rubio defeated Cruz in SC.
NAIL ON HEAD
No, he didn’t, you liar.
Cruz said he rightfully passed on the news reported in a CNN article. He apologized for not adding Carson’s clarification later in the evening when they became aware of it. (Carson’s clarification was that he would continue to campaign, but he had no campaign events listed for NH or SC; he suspended campaigning during that time and resumed again for NV.)
Cruz never admitted any “dirty tricks” and you know it.
And President Rick Santorum wept....
Cruz donator here...
Donald Trump on Gun Control On The Issues
It's often argued that the American murder rate is high because guns are more available here than in other countries. Democrats want to confiscate all guns, which is a dumb idea because only the law-abiding citizens would turn in their guns and the bad guys would be the only ones left armed. The Republicans walk the NRA line and refuse even limited restrictions. Jul 2, 2000
I am against gun control Feb 10, 2011
If Uncle Fester had turned up at Cruz’s speech last night, it wouldn’t have surprised me at all.
It looks to me that Cruz is running for Rubio’s VP now. If he can get decent results on Super Tuesday and then in 3/5-3/8 primaries, he can get around 250 delegates, perhaps even 300.
If he bails out at that point, it will become a close race between Rubio and Trump, and Ted’s 250 delegates may come into play at the convention.
I don’t like Rubio all that much, but hope he can hold on Trump. Ted has to figure out if he still has any cards to play.
I’m disappointed in you.
Interesting thought, I had not considered that. I don’t like Rubio either, but I believe I could stomach voting for him if he were the nominee. Particularly if Cruz were his running mate.
So in other words, Cruz, a lawyer, argued successfully on behalf of his clients.
Cruz lasted this long because the media focused it's fire on Trump.
Whoever the heck is advising him now needs to be fired immediately and replaced with someone who will help avoid getting caught up in petty exchanges with other Republican candidates, it brings up his negatives.
And if the media hasn't been able to take down Trump, why does Ted Cruz think he's going to with sniping statements?!? He needs to be proving he's got a superior platform, will be harsher on immigration and H1Bs.
Maybe he's said that, but he's given the media too many other terrible talking points that are negative of other 'R' candidates, contrary to Reagans rules. There was a reason for those rules and Ted should be smarter than that!!! It's PO'ing me off something fierce, he should be making better use of those donations.
Have you ever owned your own business? I do own my own business, and it takes work and a lot of it to keep it running....come on, where's that thing we used to use called: ‘COMMON SENSE’?????
And as far as ‘muttcare’ that your senators and representative pasted in the middle of the night, and ‘you have to vote on it before you know what is in it’ believe that Trump hasn't got a health plan a lot better for the people?
Oh well contrair: http://www.ontheissues.org/2016/Donald_Trump_Health_Care.htm
This is the way America should be ran, for it’s people and for a way of life....instead of some dirty rotten ‘politicians’ and ‘governors’ and others with their hand out for their own pockets!!!
Amen, amen!! Look how well Jebber’s will do with his PAC $$ now that he’s ‘suspended’ his campaign (there’s a financial reason they suspend, rather that halt).
Like Sarah Palin said...politicians are addicted to OPM....other people’s money. The YUGE majority of them have NEVER managed employees, run a business or have been responsible for making a payroll (for signing the FRONT of the paychecks).
CRuz can debate....so so....and claims to have vast knowledge of the Constitution, yet he didn’t even realize he was a dual citizen until a couple of years ago??? I’m not sure I’d even trust him on the SC :(
