Nigel Farage And George Galloway's Grassroots Out Alliance Mercilessly Mocked Online

The revelation that Nigel Farage and George Galloway are to work together on the European Union referendum has been mercilessly mocked, with the unlikely pact described as an "unholy alliance".

The Ukip and Respect party leaders appeared together at a rally for the Grassroots Out campaign on Friday, launching the campaign to persuade voters to end Britain's membership of the EU.

Yet instead of being welcomed, Galloway's appearance prompted a mass walkout at the event, and the party leaders' partnership is now the subject of intense scrutiny - and mockery.

Hundreds of people stormed out of an anti-EU rally due to George Galloway's allegedly anti-Semitic remarks.

I remember in the 1980s when there was a rally against the Big Bank Bailout in DC.

Arriving in the same cab: Howard Phillips of the Conservative Caucus and Ralph Nader.

Until this, UKIP had a record of booting out antisemites after they're caught. BTW, the UK is going to stay in the EU, and UKIP will never again win a seat in Parliament. It has also peaked in its seats *in* the EU parliament (a powerless, meaningless body if ever there was one).

UKIP still has a record of booting out antisemites (and other nasties) after they're caught. Galloway isnt in UKIP. He is the leader of another political party. UKIP are in no way responsible for his policies and actions.

People have been saying that UKIP has "peaked", or that "it has run its course" or that it has made some terrible electoral faux pas that will finish it, for years and years and years...and yet, amazingly, it persists, and it continues to grow. It might be more reasonable to say that traditional political punditry is far more out of touch with grassroots voters than UKIP is.

Will the UK remain in the EU? I hope not, and I will certainly be campaigning strongly for the UK to leave, but if I am absolutely honest I think its going to be very difficult. The forces arrayed against the Leave campaign are numerous and very powerful. They are more organised, vastly better funded, and they have all the weight of the establishment behind them. But, if you believe something is right and true, you have to fight for it, no matter what the odds.

I dont see why. The point at issue is membership of the EU - basically the very future of the country. On this one point, and on this one point alone, the two are in agreement. Why should they not campaign together?

The interesting point about this EU referendum in the UK is that opinion cuts across many party lines. UKIP is solidly for leaving, the Green party and the Liberal Democrats solidly for staying, but Britain's two big partys both contain members both strongly for and strongly against leaving. I think this is going to be quite close.

Galloway is in a different party, but he was invited, knowing what he was. So, yeah, they are responsible for it, that was just boneheaded.

UKIP may have more members now than it did before its defeat in the last election; the sentiment for the UK leaving the EU may be there, though I doubt it. Meanwhile UKIP holds seats in the EU parliament (which is amusing) but has basically zero influence there. It has zero seats in the UK parliament. But yeah, people who say UKIP has peaked don’t know what they’re talking about.

Regardless, good luck in that campaign. There are members of Cameron’s cabinet who want out, even though Cameron himself probably couldn’t care less one way or the other at best, or opposes Brexit at worst.
