Income taxes are an easy tax to collect. They directly discourage work and any savings one would achieve. If you don't want to be penalized with an income tax, be lazy and don't work.

Anyway, I'd remind Donald: Who gassed the Kurds? The evidence was overwhelming! Now after the Israelis bombed Osirak* Hussein may very well have NOT had a nuclear program, but he had chemicals and germs at his disposal, and chose to use the chemicals against both the Kurds an Iranians, there is no dispute in history about that.
*The Israeli Air Force mission against Hussein's nuclear facility (sold to them by France, by the way) was named "Operation Babylon".

Cruz tries to weasel it by saying it isn’t a VAT because it is applied at the business level in a different way, but the end result is the same. I wish folks would press him more on it because logic tells you the government could not float with a flat tax of 10%. And, of course, the democrats will kill him on lowering the top tax rate to 10%. Cruz’s tax plan, along with a host of other things, will kill him in the general and folks naively believe the stupid polls that he could beat Hillary.

People have to distinguish between the Constitutionally allowed income tax because of the 16th Amendment, a national sales tax, and the VAT.
First of all, until you repeal the 16th Amendment, nobody should be talking about ADDING an entirely new federal tax, a national sales tax. People who think all you have to do is have legislation that disallows income tax in favor of the sales tax. But of course that is a silly idea since the 16th Amendment of Constitution authorizes the feds at any time to implement an income tax. People need to remember that the Constitution trumps legislation (Art VI, Cl 2 - the Supremacy Clause). Unless you love taxes, adding a national sales tax before repealing the 16th Amendment would be foolhardy.
Secondly, if you by some miracle actually repeal the 16th Amendment, I agree that a sales tax - a tax upon purchase at the cash register - would be preferable for a variety of reasons, some of which you mention.
Thirdly, the VAT MUST be distinguished from an actual sales tax at the cash register for purchases. NOT a “consumption tax” or value-added tax. That would be a disaster allowing the feds to tax each stage along the production and supply process and allowing more intrusion and interference the inner workings of business that would also allow more hidden taxes than ever. VAT is a disaster.
Nevertheless,there WERE no WMD’s when Bush made his wrong-headed decision to invade Iraq - Trump is right about that.
And Bush did change his tune by announcing a NEW reason fr invading Iraq - the useless and immediately defunct “Bush Doctrine.”
