The chair of the Democratic National Committee, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, has had her thumb on the scale for Hillary Clinton, like the rest of the party establishment. When Hillary thought she was a shoe-in, they limited the number of debates and scheduled them in time slots where no one was watching. Now that Sanders is giving her a hard run, miraculously, new debates have been scheduled for prime time.
Then, there is the Democratic Party's use of superdelegates, party office holders and insiders, designed specifically to keep top-down control of the nomination process, so that even a 22 point landslide in New Hampshire for Sanders yielded the same number of delegates as Hillary got.
Prior to the Democratic presidential debate in Milwaukee last night, CNN's Jake Tapper had the audacity to ask the DNC chair about this. The expression on Debbie Wasserman Schultz's face is priceless when CNN's Jake Tapper asks her to explain to "voters new to the process" who might feel "this is all rigged" because of the superdelegates.
Tre Goins-Phillips of the Blaze summarizes the evasive, yet unintentionally revealing answer:
The DNC chairwoman explained to Tapper that the unpledged delegates, or the superdelegates, are a completely separate category from the pledged delegates, which Clinton and Sanders were competing for in the Granite State.

There is no legal requirement that parties pick their candidates by strictly democratic methods. Such methods would seem to be rare in American history.
Super delegates will be the undoing of the Democrat Party. Young Sanders supporters are already disillusioned with the New Hampshire primary outcome.
I assume Sanders has just rolled over this as he has Benghazi, emails and subpoenas. He's not a serious candidate.

One wonders how poorly a candidate could do in the primaries and caucuses and still win because of superdelegates? It sounds like they still have the old Party Boss system. The Republican nomination is actually a more “Democratic” process.
I saw a story which indicated that about 15% of Democrat delegates are super delegates.
So, if Hillary has the support of the vast majority of this 15% bloc, that means Bernie would need over 60% of the remaining delegates elected in primaries and caucuses, to win this nomination.
So, suppose Bernie catches fire in other states as time goes on, and gets 55% of the vote. It still wouldn’t be enough to overcome Hillary’s firewall of super delegates at the convention.
It’s funny how the Democrats bitched about 2000, and how the Electoral Vote resulted in Bush being elected, though Al Gore won the popular vote.
We could see a similar situation here, in which Bernie wins the most primary votes for Democrats, yet Hillary gets the nomination due to having these super delegates in her back pantsuit pocket.

"Those who vote count for nothing. Those who count the votes count for everything."

The minority and blue collar vote will favor Mrs. Bill Clinton.

And did anyone else LOL, when Hillary said she’s no political insider, and how could the first woman president be a Political insider????
The DNC’s blockbuster release for the primary season: “Debbie Does Delegates”.
The fix is already in for the scales to be tilted in favor of Herself. Most, if not all, of the “superdelegates” (NOT elected in any manner) have been put under obligation to the candidacy of Herself, some with considerably more leverage than normal being applied in a back room somewhere.

No, it’s propotional for regular delegates, with superdelegates being free agents.
Bernie won the NH vote 60-38. Hillary won the NH delegates (combined) 15-13.
Explain that to Bernie supporters. It’s a lot of fun, and I say that from personal experience.

There’s a short, and closing, window of opportunity to let the Bernie supporters know that the system is rigged against them, using NH as an example.
If Hillary wins big in SC and Super Tuesday that window closes.
Most Dem SDs are so because they were elected to political office. Hillary didn’t get to appoint them, and given Hillary’s poor endorsement success rate, not many owe anything to her.
The fact that they endorsed Hillary some months ago in no way obligates them to vote for her if party civil war is at stake. Many of the SDs are looking for an excuse to give Hillary a smackdown.
