With the republican primary race now heading to South Carolina we take a look at the last verifiable polling (large sample, low MOE) which was taken by NBC and the Wall Street Journal in January (full pdf below).

Remember the golden rule of MSM polling. “When polls are silent, it generally means the outcomes are adverse to their preferred media narrative."

I tried to make sense of that and then I remembered...

Trump supporters.

Seriously though, I expected larger crowds. I’d go see trump’s show and I am a solid Cruz voter.

Are three declared bankruptcies a metric for effective management? Are they the hallmark of a conservative? The willful choice to not repay one’s debts, to steal money from a lender or business partner under the guise of a loan or partnership only to weasle out of repaying the loan or living up to the terms of the partnership. Three times. By your own admission, Trump has the assets and resources to have made good on these debts. He didn’t. He chose to stop paying on the loans rather than tap into his vast personal financial reserves. Just because a criminal can steal something doesn’t make it alright that he does.

Well, I’m for Trump, but if Ted manages to pull it off he’s got my full support.

Bit touchy there, mate. You really shouldn’t take your frustrations out on a fellow Freeper who’s done nothing to you.

If you really want Cruz to do better, try using some logic, reason, and gentle persuasion to bring folks over to his side. Works a whole lot better than insults.

Let me add an addendum to your post.

The loudest and most obnoxious Cruz people are in denial at the moment. The quieter ones just tend to be... well, quiet. And overlooked.

I'm a Trump man. But I'm also very aware of South Carolina politics.

We are talking the Big Leagues in Republican Party establishment politics. No trick is too dirty; no misstep too small to turn a race upside down.

South Carolina has a reputation as a lovely and sedate Southern state. Languid. Hospitable palmettos and sweet debutantes. Nothing could be further from the truth politically. Expect rough and tumble, cut-throat action.

Nine days is a long time away. If a squeaker win were laid on the table before me now, I'd take it and run. I can almost guarantee the race won't be a blowout, and there will be twists and turns almost daily.

Free Republic will be a zoo. Buckle your seatbelts.

Thank you for the words from a national treasure and a true patriot, Jim Robinson.

I will save those words and pass them on.

Here a list of why I think Donald Trump is a conservative. I will put his list next to any conservative and it should be a virtual match. If not, they can go find their conservative pope and, if The Donald kisses his papal ring, will they believe he is a true conservative?

Trump is conservative on these issues:

Pro life since at least 2011, wanted to ban partial birth abortion as far back as 2000.
Pro Traditional marriage. “Gay rights is not my thing.”
Pro capital punishment “Capital punishment isn’t uncivilized; murderers living is”
Hold Judges accountable
Opposes “Common core is a disaster” Teach citizenship, quit “dumbing down”.
Anti education unions (2000).
For school choice.
“Climate Change is a hoax”
“No Cap-and-Tax”
For drilling our own.
On Environment: “Good development enhances the environment.”
Stressed the importance of a strong family & culture of life (2015).
Supports Israel.
Opposes Iran deal and letting Iran obtain the bomb.
Wants to crush ISIS quickly.
Wants a military so strong no one will challenge us.
Against unbalanced trade deals that kill American jobs.
Against warrant-less government surveillance of citizens.
Is against having a high national debt. Warns that $24T is a point of no return.
Against gun control.
The AR-15 shouldn’t be considered an assault weapon.
Wants to repeal Obamacare and replace it with market driven polices and increased competition among insurance companies.
Wants to increase military spending.
Will close the border to illegals.
Will send the criminals and sponges back.
Will deport all illegals but will let the hard working ones go through the legal process to come back.
Against Anchor babies.
Knows unemployment is much higher than official stats.
Will bring jobs back through better trade negotiation.
Attended military academy and Wharton Business School.
Stood up for Birthers and challenged Obama on his fraud. Believes USA is “the greatest force for freedom the world has ever known.”
Wants to honor commitments on Social Security and Medicare, which we can afford to do if he gets the economy going full steam.
Wants to reduce the fraud in disability and other programs.
Against marriage penalties in tax code.
Wants to simplify tax code with just 3 simple brackets.
Wants to reduce income taxes and eliminate corporate tax.
Wants to rebuild our infrastructure.
Wants to apply welfare-to-work to 76 other welfare programs (2011).
Doesn’t have time for political correctness.

Beck, Levin and Limbaugh are entertainers. That’s my take on them. I don’t take entertainers seriously.

Take America back, GO TRUMP, all the way to the White House.

Jesus are Cruz people just this unable to go do any damn research. Go look up the video “the untruth about Donald trump”, go to the section about that so you can stop peddling this stupid talking point.

And while you are at it, can you explain why did Cruz, as a lawyer, fight to get Obama stimulus money for clients in Texas?

"Does he check their legal status at the door?"

Like they should have checked Sirhan Sirhan's legal status? We leave the ultimate check to the secret service who protect Trump.

Some even go so far as jumping out of low flying aircraft!! :-O
I’d enjoy seeing him speak in a baseball stadium and then coming out, standing on the mound like a regular man and throwing the ‘first ball’ We’ve not had a man throwing that ball in the past several years.

What is the magic of Trump, which attracts those crowds in every state? Can not be his skills as a debater. It can not be his colorful past. It can not be his stint on The Apprentice. Because there were no crowds waiting at the studio. The other non-political background candidate Carson can not attract those crowds. Neither can any of the career politicians. Why do people drive miles through snow storms and wait in line for hours to attend his rallies? He delivers basically the same speech at different venues. Yet people never get bored and leave. There is always energy, joy and love on display at those rallies. Simply Amazing!

“but in States that allow crossover voting in primaries, Trump will win handily. In some ways, that’s probably not a bad thing.”

I think that’s correct: it could show how well Trump might cross-over in the general. And we might not have to worry too much about wreckers crossing over just to muck things up if Sanders stays competitive with Hillary, as the die-hard Rats are gonna wanna participate in the Rat primaries rather than waste their votes just to try and muck up the Pub primaries.

Can anyone remember a candidate drawing these kind of crowds during primary season? Unprecedented. Happened nearly a century ago in Germany. Desperate people are easily led. Facts are we are desperate for someone that tells the truth about everyday life.

Yes I am desperate.

I am desperate to have the borders sealed.

I am desperate to stop the influx of muslims to this country.

I am desperate to have ANY leader to show the guts to get this done.
