Over 100,000 BernieBots Sign Petition Urging DNC to Allow Popular Vote to Rule Over Superdelegates
VANITY

Posted on 02/10/2016 8:02:12 PM PST by TigerClaws

Commit to honoring the voters - let everyone know that you won’t allow your vote to defeat our votes. Announce that in the event of a close race, you’ll align yourself with regular voters - not party elites.

PETITION BACKGROUND Bernie Sanders is on a roll among actual voters, with a blowout victory in New Hampshire (22 points!) and a virtual tie in Iowa. When Bernie is on the ballot - he can win. But in a close race, Superdelegates can snatch that victory away.

Only by pushing back against this possibility can we ensure that the candidate WE vote for becomes the nominee.

The RNC has superdelegates too. I’m wondering how many committed delegates Trump has to have before he can stop the RNC from denying the nominations through superdelegate voting.

Maybe we’re finally going to get to see Mayonnaise Head get tarred and feathered.

Although the feathers would probably stick to her hair just the way it is.

I was laughing last night...Saunders going on about America’s founding principle is fairness even as the fix was in to dilute the popular vote. Some people are too stupid to be free.

Yup, and if Bernie runs well the rest of the way and gets screwed of his rightful share of delegates there will be hell to pay. My guess is he runs third party. There are some bing money lefties more than willing to bankroll the old socialist for an independent run.

Doesn’t freedom protect even those who are too stupid to appreciate it?

If these people can be proven to have a low IQ, we can sequester them in appropriate facilities. IMO.

The Hillary campaign issued this response: “Everyone who signs that petition is going to hell!”

Could get reeeeeeally interesting at the D’n’C convention if it looks like Hillary will win by a margin equal to or less than the number of “superdelegates”.

Could make Chicago ‘68 look like an Easter egg hunt.

The Republicans have 3 delegates per contest (both State and territory) that are chosen by the Republican Committee of that State or territory for a total of 168 delegates that are not bound to the election. That is out of a total of 2,470 delegates, or 6.8% of the total.

The Democrats have 714 super-delegates out of 4,483 total delegates, or 15.9% of the total.

It is very unlikely that the GOP will have enough at-large delegates to skew the nomination process.

6.8% is still a lot.

I hope the GOPe isn’t planning on keeping all the players in the race to create a brokered convention.

It sounds like a lot, but it really isn’t. Most States that are proportional have a 15% threshold for allocation, so if there are a few Gilmore’s and Carson’s in the running, they aren’t going to be pulling in small numbers of delegates. If the GOPe keeps going with 2 or 3 candidates splitting the results of their lane, they won’t be picking up many votes.

If it turns into a 3-way race, then there could be a brokered convention, but then the at-large delegates aren’t going to be the cause of it.

Since each State gets to pick its at-large delegates, it is unlikely that they will ALL be on the same page. So that dilutes them as well.

And if it is close enough that a candidate needs a handful of delegates to push him over the top, there will be some major wheeling and dealing behind the scenes.

The Democrats have a much bigger chance that their super-delegates will cause internecine fighting.

How fitting.

“Not all Hypocrites are Democrats, but all Democrats are Hypocrites.”

The Democrat party squawks, complains and goes into foaming-at-the-mouth rants over their claims that America lacks fairness, has undemocratic institutions, and that the government, culture, organizations and businesses are rigged.

Then they show the world that have a primary election system they is unfair, undemocratic and rigged to the nth degree.
