One of the cornerstones of Donald Trump's campaign has been the fact that millions of jobs have been lost to overseas industries because it is often too expensive to do business in America anymore.
Many liberals have criticized Trump for these statements, but the Wall Street Journal recently reported that Ford's latest production move showed that Trump was exactly right.
Ford planned to build a new assembly plant in Mexico in order to produce 500,000 more vehicles in Mexico than it currently does. Last year Ford's Mexican output was 433,000 vehicles, which translates to about 14 percent of its total production in North America. This deal had not been publicly confirmed and a Ford spokesperson simply stated, "We do not comment on speculation," when asked about the company's plans for Mexico. Mexico has become a serious competitor in the car-making market with "low wages, improved logistics and an arsenal of free-trade deals," the Wall Street Journal explained.
If the report proves true, Ford will join a long line of auto dealers making the pivot to Mexico, including BMW, General Motors, Volkswagen, Toyota, Honda and Kia. This shift is only expected to grow because the United Auto Workers labor union recently struck a deal to increase wages for U.S. factory workers, making domestic production just that much more cost-prohibitive. As wages in the U.S. go up, Mexican wages stay the same, and it therefore becomes even cheaper to do business with Mexican factory workers as opposed to American laborers.
The UAW insisted that auto companies don't need to run to Mexico because they can afford to pay their workers high wages. "They're making huge amounts of profits," UAW President Dennis Williams stated. "There is no reason mathematically to go ahead and run to countries like Mexico, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam."

Who else you going to buy? Jeep and Chrysler are owned by the VBN Agnelli family (Fiat). GM is just as bad. Ford was the last hope, other than Tesla.
>>DO NOT BUY FORD!!
Sorry, but no one else makes Mustangs.
Ford does sell cars and truck in Mexico too.
Everybody gave it a shot. NAFTA has not done a damn thing but destroy us.
The argument was Mexico needs jobs. Well, many have them but go south of that and they are bused right on up here.
Time for it to end.
Maybe a Subaru, made in Indiana? Their sales are growing fast. We have both a 2009 Outback, and a 2008 Ford Explorer. While both will get you where you need to go in (most) difficult conditions, and the Explorer is bigger / can tow more, in most respects, the Outback is a much better executed / thought out vehicle. My biggest complaint about the Outback is cramped space in front — a little too much the “cockpit approach, IMO. And changing the spark plugs in the Boxer engine is a bugger.
>>Much like how FR has ruled all major retail establishments off limits, weâre well on our way to boycotting all automotive names, LOL
I’m pretty sure that Ford was the last one. LOL. I’ve had a total of 8% in raises in all the years from 2008 to 2014, and that’s more than most working Americans have recieved. I can’t keep up with the rising costs of UAW labor.
Feel better now douche?
Is Ford going to lower the price for their cars since they’re saving so much on labor? I’m not holding my breath.
At the Bildeberg meeting in 1991 David Rockefeller walked up to Bill Clinton and asked him what he thought about NAFTA.
Clinton replied, “If it’s important to you, Mr Rockefeller, it’s important to me.”
Rockefeller replied, “Thank you, Mr President.”

High American union labor. No secret and has been the case for decades. That’s why most of our stuff is made in China and elsewhere.
He was already chastised on another thread by Jr for that common core garbage,he has a psycho loathing for trump.
...and, by the way...
My heart is still mostly with Cruz, but there is one thing that I really, REALLY like about Trump.
He has a killer instinct.
I don’t want a President who thanks Iranians for humiliating our troops, or a President who won’t let our forces in Afghanistan go on the offense against the Taliban. I don’t want a President who will do nothing when cartel members in Mexico shoot at our Border Patrol, or who does absolutely nothing about the southern invasion.
I want a President, whoever he is, who takes no prisoners, who goes for the throat, for the kill-shot against anyone who harms this country.
And I want him to laugh and toast their demise when the enemies of the United States are lying dead.
I want a President who doesn’t just kill Jihadis but then orders their corpses decapitated and then buried with pigs — and then proudly announces it.
I want someone who unleashes the sharks.
Dishonest Ford.
First World prices for Third World goods.
BMW isn’t any more expensive than other cars. You might be pleasantly surprised.
why do you care about UAW trash?
I like your post!
Thanks for the Apple info. I’ll stop bashing Apple for their China manufacturing. I thought it was for cost. I can see labor and regulations killing innovation.
and Geffen is the asshole that put Nobama on the front page.
Watch their genius dance now.
I, too, have been on every side of most issues as I went through my political transformation. I was once a pot-smoking liberal. People change.
