Republicans set a new turnout record Tuesday in New Hampshire’s primary, attracting more than a quarter of a million voters to the polls and offering evidence that most of the energy in the 2016 presidential race continues to be on the GOP side.
Democrats saw a strong turnout, but their two-person race couldn’t recapture the magic of the 2008 battle between Hillary Clinton and then-candidate Barack Obama — a race that presaged Mr. Obama’s eventual cruise to victory in November.

Did Hillary’s delegate count involve superdelegates committed to her?
In 2008, the supers abandoned her in favor of 0, even after her victories in the large industrial states. Still, if I were a NH rat, I’d be furious over the delegate system.

I’m not sure many millennials care. There are no jobs, so no paychecks to confiscate. They see it as FREE stuff coming THEIR way, and some other, undefined nebulous entity of 1% is going to pay for it all.
Really, they’d be a lot more secure and live longer, happier lives if they were for someone who is going to get good jobs rather than good handouts.

Dems can’t vote in the NH Rep Primary. Independents can vote though.
That is key.
Given the results of the NH primary, you can't really blame the Dem supporters for not flocking to the polls. Some of the ones I've talked to say they are feeling like maybe this time, it's not worth the effort. So on a cold, sleeting and snowy evening in November, a lot of them won't even bother.
Republicans are shattered by infighting, but they are energized, and they typically make the effort to to get out and vote; Democrats, typically - not so much.
As I understand it, NH has a very large Independent voter contingent. The fact that they broke republican is a positive, imo.

You seem to be implying that that is a bad thing...I suppose it might be...but the increase in voting was way more than democrats switching parties to make phony votes...in fact, I would presume that most of the democrats who switched to vote Republican were sincere about it. Look at the choices they have on the democrat ticket...

That is exactly right! Both parties had about 15% new voters...but the Republican base is on fire as well and 15% of Republican new voters is more than 15% of new democrat voters....so a doubly good day! Especially since Trump won!

An independent could vote in either primary and from what I heard on the radio, more independents chose to vote in the democrat primary than in the republican primary. PapaBear, please forgive my exasperation, but your comment has been written word for word hundreds, if not more, in the last several days on various threads.
How can one bit of information, such as democrats not being allowed to vote in the republican primary, which was all over the media, go unnoticed by so many. Does anyone pay attention or do you and others just mindlessly repeat what you have seen on other threads? Just curious. Flame away. I don't really care.
If I remember correctly, the report was that Indeps who usually vote D opted to vote R in this primary, which is where we get the crossover vote conception. At least that’s what I heard; don’t quote me on that.

Back in 2008, I voted in the Dem primary.
Rush was promoting his "Operation Chaos", and I found the idea amusing enough that I changed my registration from R to D, and then voted for Hillary against Obama.
