Narcissism Cruz’s policy
Scranton Times-Tribune ^ | February 8, 2016 | Michael Gerson

Posted on 02/08/2016 8:55:45 PM PST by kiryandil

The GOP front-runners who did not melt down into an oleaginous puddle of self-pity - the winners of the compos mentis caucus - are more different than their similar policy views would indicate. Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz are social and economic conservatives, and products of the tea party revolt. But they represent two entirely different approaches to the gathering and use of power.

Each had a defining moment in their rapid rise. For Rubio, it was the Gang of Eight's attempt to pass comprehensive immigration reform. Rubio now presents this as the ancient past, but I'm old enough to remember those days of yore in 2013 and 2014. Rubio was determined to make a mark by improving a broken immigration system and by helping the GOP move past a debate it was losing in a spectacularly damaging fashion. (Under the flag of "self- deportation," Mitt Romney had been recently crushed by 44 points among Latinos.)...

I read Gerson's column because he used the word Narcissism .

I get such a kick out of these columnists who pretend to have this in-depth understanding and insight into politicians with whom they disagree.

“I think Trump is the best candidate on immigration.”

That is an interesting comment.

Can you tell us more about his long-held views on immigration?

Well, we DO know that Trump got Cruz to change his tune on immigration.

So Trump's got THAT going for him.

Learning how to lie with straight faces - like the Trumpster -

Don’t assume we’re all ignorant.

Cruz’s record tells a different story;

“Ted Cruz. Cruz has a 100% lifetime rating from the ACU, a 97% rating from Conservative Review and a 100% rating from Heritage Action. “

You people do FR a great disservice -

I did think he would be a good justice at the time. I do not deny that. I thought what I thought at the time because I trusted what people who knew the guy, like Ted Cruz, were saying about him. I am simply pointing out that it is not a given that Cruz will pick great SCOTUS nominees as he has already been wrong once. It is also not a given that Trump would do worse.

Unlike Donald Trump, who is a wilting violet afraid of mirrors that might reflect his shy self. A man so humble, he is forced to point out the personal flaws of every human on earth, except himself. You guys have become laughable.

Good one....

I can tell you that I read Trumps 2011 book and his immigration views appear to be very similar to what he wrote then in “Time to Get Tough”. Have you read it? I also knot that he was the first candidate to return seen. Sessions’ questionnaire and I think he nailed those answers.

I’m not saying Trump would not do at least reasonably well. I’m just tired of the propaganda, like Cruz was solely responsible for Roberts because Cruz is some evil liberal Machiavelli.

I generally don’t post except in response to commentary. Once in a while I might respond to an article, but I’m not sure what you are getting at here.

If you are asking me to criticize Cincinnatus’ Wife for posting some article, I don’t know what purpose would be served. Besides I think the Gerson article she posted was with regard to Trump. I generally don’t offer criticism of folks who post anti-Trump articles because anything that helps to take down Trump is good for the country.
