'I have at least 20 Muslim friends', says Donald Trump, but can't name them
The Daily Telegraph ^ | February 7, 2015 | David Lawler, New Hampshire

..... The Republican presidential candidate has repeatedly said that "Muslims love him" despite his provocative policies, but has so far failed to name any single individual Muslim supporter.

Asked by the Telegraph to elaborate, Mr Trump again ducked the question responding: "Oh, I could give you about 20 of them."...

Donald Trump Junior, Mr Trump's son, was also unable to tell the Telegraph who his father's Muslim friends were, saying only that they had "completed a lot of business deals" in the Middle East.

".....The only way to clear the mess in Washington, Trump argued, is to elect a president who is so rich he doesn't need anybody's money. "I think self-funding is a big thing," Trump said. "I'm the only one that's self-funding, Democrat or Republican. everyone else is taking from -- I call them the bloodsuckers." Source

"...Trump repeatedly said he would alienate his wealthy friends if he actually becomes president and cleans up government. But it's worth it, he said. "They come to me and they say, 'We would like you to use such and such a company -- he's helped your friends,'" Trump said. "I don't care if he's helped my friends. I have no friends as far as I'm concerned.

You know who my friends are? You're my friends." Trump won big applause with that line....." Source

Most of Donald Trump's Political Money Went To Democrats - Until 5 Years Ago: "Well, if I ever ran for office, I'd do better as a Democrat than as a Republican," Donald Trump told Playboy in 1990. "And that's not because I'd be more liberal, because I'm conservative.

But the working guy would elect me. He likes me."

April 2011: Trump: I'm worth whatever I feel [deposition during lawsuit that Trump brought]

".. Trump: My net worth fluctuates, and it goes up and down with the markets and with attitudes and with feelings, even my own feelings, but I try.

Ceresney: Let me just understand that a little. You said your net worth goes up and down based upon your own feelings?

Trump: Yes, even my own feelings, as to where the world is, where the world is going, and that can change rapidly from day to day ...

Ceresney: When you publicly state a net worth number, what do you base that number on?

Trump: I would say it's my general attitude at the time that the question may be asked. And as I say, it varies.

Trump ["Art of the Deal"]: The final key to the way I promote is bravado. I play to people's fantasies. People may not always think big themselves, but they can still get very excited by those who do. That's why a little hyperbole never hurts. People want to believe that something is the biggest and the greatest and the most spectacular.

I call it truthful hyperbole. It's an innocent form of exaggeration - and a very effective form of promotion. Source

They don’t care. You can’t reason them out of supporting a candidate that they didn’t reason themselves into supporting.

Remember That One Time Donald Trump Owned an Airline?

"...Timing is everything in business, and unfortunately for Trump he entered the airline game at the wrong time. The US entered an economic recession in the late '80's leading many corporations to cut back on business travel. In addition, tensions in the Middle East leading up to the first Gulf war caused oil prices to spike. This 1-2 punch was devastating for the airline industry and led to the demise of a number of airlines including Eastern and Pan Am. Given these circumstances, the Trump Shuttle lost money, and with Trump continuing to accumulate debt in his other ventures it was becoming increasingly difficult to pay back the loans taken to purchase the airline.

In an effort to drum up business, Trump guaranteed that all Shuttle flights would arrive within 15 minutes of their scheduled arrival time or passengers would be compensated. This was a foolish proposition for sure, as the northeast corridor airports were - and still are - very congested with delays being commonplace. The guarantee didn’t last long, and soon after the Trump Shuttle began to reduce its schedule in the face of mounting losses. In September of 1990 Trump defaulted on his loan and control of the airline went back to the banks led by Citibank...."

Wouldn’t it be better if he were honest and said he didn’t have any Muslim friends? Really, what does it matter? Is there some expectation that a man like him have Muslim friends? Yet a phony answer is offered instead.

Larry King Live Interview - April 2009:

[snip]

KING: With troubled times like this for the average guy who may be foreclosing on his house, is this the time to think like a champion?

Trump: This is the best time to think like a champion. As an example, the house is being foreclosed. You go see your bank - maybe you can make a deal, maybe you can't. But you can make a deal with a bank on another house, and much better than the one you're living in. ... They'll do any deal to get rid of their product.

They have houses by the thousands. And you go see that bank and you make a deal.

King: How do you assess [Barack Obama]? Trump: Well, I really like him. I think that he's working very hard. He's trying to rebuild our reputation throughout the world. The previous administration was a total disaster, a total catastrophe.

And, you know, the world looks at us differently than they used to. ... He was handed a pretty bad deck of cards. And I'm not saying I agree with everything he's doing. ... I DO AGREE WITH WHAT THEY'RE DOING WITH THE BANKS.

Whether they FUND them or NATIONALIZE them, it doesn't matter, but you have to keep the banks going.

King: Do you assess [Obama] as a champion? Trump: Oh, yes, he's a champion. I mean, he won against all odds. When he first announced, people were giving him virtually no chance. And he's just done something that's amazing...."

I'll NEVER be able to vote for Trump, now.

Does that get you a bonus on your GOPe paycheck, Cincinatus' Wife?

Now if you really need a good reason not to vote for Donald Trump, CW’s post should do the trick. ;-)

......"The charismatic Mr. Trump's economic platform is pure Jabberwocky. As Megan McCardle pointed out:

Trump's economic policy isn't really a policy; it consists of claiming magical abilities to reclaim the jobs that foreigners have stolen from us, and a ritual genuflection toward lower taxes. All politics contains some element of this, of course: Just listen to the Democratic debaters on stage claiming that bankers nearly singlehandedly destroyed the American economy, and that ambitious programs can be financed largely by raising taxes on a tiny group of ultrawealthy people. But this is combined with some vision of what the economy should look like, resting on moral and empirical premises about fairness, justice, opportunity and equality. Trump's argument is pretty much entirely "strangers stole your stuff, and I'm going to make them give it back, or at least keep them from stealing any more."

Hey. We voters are a lot smarter than the candidates seem to think! At least Trump is campaigning on prosperity. That said, as I pointed out here Trump's proposed tax "reform" has been neutrally scored by the Tax Foundation as a $10T deficit bomb (and skewed toward the wealthy). Hello Tea Party?

As to his monetary policy, as I pointed out here, Mr. Trump criticized Fed Chair Janet Yellen before she raised the discount rate for failing to raise interest rates while, in the next breath, claiming that raising interest rates was a recipe for "a recession-slash-depression." Do you have a substantive response to the information in the article or just this boilerplate? You are not doing anything to dispel the notion that the support for Trump is nothing more than a boilerplate. Post something to show why you think all of this information isn't a reason for concern and reassure people. "Because Trump, Because winning" does not do the job.

LOL....

The thing is, Trump probably doesn't want to to name them and there's NO real reason why he should! He probably does business with them and so, naming them is NOT such a good idea.

No...maybe he does have 20 muslim friends, but frankly cant pronounce their names. It like trying to pronounce Czech tennis stars’ names. Take a look at those names, what a mouthful and they begin to all sound alike. Trump should just say “I am friends with Adhullah Mohammend Abdullah and he would probably be right 30 percent of the time.

He’s friends with Mike Tyson. So that’s one. Of course, it’s possible Trump may not know Tyson is Muslim since he’s not named Mohammed or Abdullah or Ali.

Yes, I was surprised when he outed the guy from Johnson & Johnson who was at the ABC Debate. Well, Big Pharma now knows for sure where Donald Trump stands on profiteering off government health care plans. Not that that would sway the Tediban from their devotion to the Canadian Candidate. ;-)
