Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton just gave his critics all the ammunition they need.
Already under fire for how he conducts himself on the field, Newton went silent after his team's 24-10 loss to the Denver Broncos on Sunday in Super Bowl 50, sulking at the podium and essentially refusing to answer questions.

There were even some idiots on FreeRepublic who were toying with the race-card when questioning the people who weren’t slurping Cam-bama...
That was when Carolina was called for defensive holding in the end zone and gave Denver a first down at the 2 yard line with 2 or 3 minutes left in the game.
That was really strange.
He looked like he thought he was inevitable before the game - after his mach pose instead of putting his hand over his heart during the Anthem, I was glad to see the smug look wiped off his face and the reality of the situation start to hurt his poor wittle feewings...
New dance craze: Chicken Cam Shuffle.
Yes, those are a better fit. Stormed out implies some sort of physical outburst, ie. Rage Quiting.
Well I guess people hate him because he is black
Hmmm, at 26 I was a Platoon SGT, SSG(P) on my second overseas tour. Yeah, I’ll give him that one....
Denver does not have anyone who can reliably catch passes. It is a waste of time for Manning to throw a pass.
“Although some people won’t admit it, the reason why they are uncomfortable with Newton — his dancing, confidence and skill set — is because he is black.”
Why does he think people are uncomfortable with him? Being black, or being a black quarterback, dancing on the field, or having confidence, etc. is hardly unique in the NFL, where about 80% of the players are black.
The Denver defense was not uncomfortable with him at all.
This guy is just like Obama...it’s all about me...only me!!! He did not consider his teammates, the people of North Carolina, the mas of “Panther” loyal fans & supporters....only himself. Carbon copy of our first Black POTUS, Barack Hussein Obama, in love with only himself, as he ignored the declining plight of millions of African-Americans...no education, no job opportunties, no equality, no freedom, no liberty....just more ghetto & plantation economic slavery!!! There must be a place in “hell” for these ego-maniacs, self-adorees, and the folks that worship and follow them...that take them nowhere positive!!!
It is not that Cam said nothing and answered no questions. He was upset, and he did not want to go into the details the meida wanted.
That appears to be the issue.
I do think he needs to mature...and I do think that he was set back on his heels by they strength of the Denver defense and pass rush. But heck...he's young.
My biggest issue with Cam remains the way he interjected race into the discussion a week or two before the game when it was wholly unnecessary.
But he actually did answer Press questions last nght. Here's the full transcript:
What's your message to Panthers fans? "We'll be back."Now, that's not nearly as bad as I was led to believe.
Ron [Rivera] said Denver two years ago had a tough time and they bounced back. Do you take that to heart? "No."
Can you put a finger on why Carolina didn't play the way it normally plays? "Got outplayed."
Is there a reason why? "Got outplayed, bro."
Was it pretty much what you had seen on film from Denver? Anything different they put in for this game? "Nothing different."
Do we sometimes forget that defenses can still take apart the offenses in this game? "No."
What did Ron Rivera say after the game? "He told us a lot of things."
Anything in particular that was memorable? "Nope."
Obviously you're disappointed. On the biggest stage it's difficult, I know. [nods head]
Did you see anything that you didn't expect tonight? "They just played better than us. I don't know what you want me to say. They made more plays than us, and that's what it comes down to. We had our opportunities. It wasn't nothing special that they did. We dropped balls, we turned the ball over, gave up sacks, threw errant passes. That's it. They scored more points than us."
Can you put into words the disappointment you feel right now? "We lost."
Did Denver change anything defensively to take away your running lanes? "No."
I know you're disappointed not just for yourself, but for your teammates. It's got to be real tough. [shakes head] "I'm done man."
“Heâs young, only 26.”
I’m not buying that. He’s not that young. Twenty-six means - as a professional athlete who went to college - he’s been on the world stage for at least 8 years. He’s been a professional for at least 4 years.
I think someone could make the excuse about the devastating emotional loss. That I understand. Being 26? No.
He relieved his critics of the burden of "formulation" and presented them with an open act of cowardice.
A millennial reaction, all about ME. He seems to forget he’s a role model and with that comes some grown up responsibilities.
Not proven yet If it is I will not be a manning fan However the thread was about Newton not manning
Such an ugly thing to say.
Well, there is some history there:
Florida's Newton faces felony counts after fellow student's laptop stolen
and although this is not necessarily a criminal offense, it certainly reflects negatively on his character:
He's equivalent to a boxer with better style than his opponent, who get's gut punched for six rounds by a guy with a stone head. The hands came down.
The telltale that he was rattled at the beginning was the two overthrows. I was waiting for the McNabb puke next. He will never be the quarterback that drags his team to a win. Rivera and McDermott will have to get him a Denver defense or a weaker defensive opponent.
$cameron was a preacher’s son
And there’s work in the church that’s left undone
