Carson says an apologetic Cruz asked for a meeting at debate (busTED)
Washington Post ^ | 2/7/16 | Robert Costa

Ben Carson said late Saturday that Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas approached him during an off-camera break at ABC’s Republican debate to apologize for his campaign’s conduct during the Iowa caucuses and requested a one-on-one meeting with him.

“He said he’s sorry that this happened and he wants to sit down and talk,” Carson said in an interview with The Washington Post. “He wants to discuss the whole thing and clear the air.”

In the interview, Carson said pointedly that if the meeting with Cruz is scheduled, that does not mean the the senator will be absolved.

“The evidence is there,” he said, citing voice-mails that his campaign has released of Cruz allies telling caucus-goers that Carson was likely to suspend his bid. “Tapes, written communications, it’s all out there. People have to decide whether this kind of behavior is acceptable to them.”

“Cruz must care about it.

He has apologized once

And has begged Carson for a private meeting.”

This. For being the INNOCENT ONE he sure is apologizing and begging for a private meeting like he did do something wrong. Either way this has definitely gave cruz a black eye. He has handled this whole situation horribly.

I know I am biased, because I am furious with Carson! I thought Carson was a good Christian, but he is being petty, childish, and unforgiving. The Christian response here would be to accept Cruz’s apology and move on, and he won’t do it. The guys who keep saying, “He’s just in this for the money” are starting to sound reasonable, and that’s depressing.

(For the record, I don’t believe he’s in it for the money. But I’m a lot more worried that I might be wrong about that than I once was!)

Cruz has handled this vicious smear from Carson and Trump against him with true class, restraint, dignity and grace.

You’re putting him in the classic “are you sorry for beating your wife” trap. If he says I’m sorry, you nail him, and if he doesn’t, you still nail him. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. As usual, the only lies and dirty tricks are coming from the unethical, conservative-hating anti-Cruzers.

It seems that most of the Trump supporters relate very well to hipocracy. To bad they cannot seem to apply that skill in picking candidates.

Uh exactly why would Cruz and company spend a lot of time and money getting the goods on Carson?? Some people here must be new to politics. Anyone who knows politics in grade 1 knew from the beginning Ben is a very nice man - unsuited to either political campaigns or cutthroat politics. In short, he was going no where.

That’s easy. Cruz did op research on Carson because he must have the evangelical demo. Carson was heavily favored early on by them.

I’m not trying to argue the merits here, so much as point out that CNN is not a disinterested bystander - they are a party to the dispute.

There are factors in this situation that speak ill of all of the parties.

And there appears to be at least a faction who will accept no action by Cruz to ameliorate the issue (short of political suicide, I suppose).

That’s the foolishness of hiding behind one’s goodness— we are all flawed, including Cruz.

Days before Iowa Cruz was saying that voting for Carson -or those soon dropping out- was a wasted vote because “Trump may be unstoppable” if he won Iowa. Of course his squad would continue that pressure in the precincts.

Add a spin-able message from a credible news source? You get exactly what we have now.

“Most voters do care about integrity and character.”

So...how is Trump’s character? Do you remember when people on FreeRepublic criticized Clinton for cheating on his one wife? Trump has admitted cheating on all his wives.

I realize Trump has baggage, but let’s face facts.

Who else is tough enough to take Hillary to the mat..nobody. If there is one republican candidate she fears, it’s Trump.

He will shame her and expose all of Clinton’s past sins. He will parade Bill’s past rape victims at his rally’s, and plant others at hers. I even predict that if Trump is the nominee, Hillary will drop out..

The time is now..we are in a fight for our country..Trump is our Patton..nothing else matters.

You got to be naive to think candidates won’t tweet news reports on other candidates.

“Too late, damage done.”

Exactly. Now that the damage is done you cannot undo it.
