Yep. I hear it ended up being auctioned. For back taxes? Some other Freeper posted that after all the Trump/ED stuff the widow listed the house for sale for 5 million. No offers. In the end she lost the place.
The fact that she refused to sell to Trump for the amount she originally told him she wanted - well that’s all I needed to know about her. No problem with people trying to get the very best deal, but to pretend to be the poor little widow kicked out into a storm is bullstuff.
The law firm that litigated Kelo had successfully won a prior case, CRDA v. Banin, and the case involved Peter Banin who had purchased a building for $500,000..Trump appealed to the CRDA that offered him $174,000 and told him to leave the property. Another would be Bridgeport, back in 1994, when Trump tried to have the city condemn 5 businesses to make way for his proposed entertainment facility that involved him and the mayor holding a press conference heaping praise on each other but the deal eventually fell through. Trump has expressed nothing but support for Kelo and the unconstitutional abuse of eminent domain seizures leaving no room for doubt on this issue. I support Ted Cruz, he’s a solid conservative and he’s definitely anti-establishment. Conservatives for the first time in recent memory have the opportunity to put a conservative in the White House. I reject the establishment naysayers that talk down the general election chances after their candidates have failed in two elections and I think it would be a cruz to take on Hillary in the election or her fellow socialist rival.
I don’t condone Trump’s trying to take advantage of it either, my post was just to point out something nobody is talking about. Bush and the media are all saying “Trump uses imminent domain...” but that’s not actually true, Trump can’t use it, only the government can. I’m not trying to defend either side.
He can buddy up with politicians and try to get them to bend the rules, take the property and then sell it to him, which I agree is wrong. But that was not my point. And he’s not the only one that has done it.
As usual with everybody that wants to derail Trump, they are not always telling the whole story. That’s what I was trying to get across.
