As if you didn't already have reason enough to NOT give to united way. I was constantly in hot water at work every year when the company, needing to "check the box", went on it's united way campaign drive. I always declined the offer to participate. Despite a lot of pressure from the bosses. My money, my choice. I remember that you could specify which "charitable" organization would receive your donation from a list of acceptable ones but none of them ever fit my criteria.

They can start by putting criminals in jail and LEAVING THEM THERE.

The “United Way” has become the secular version of tithing. The “charities” selected are politically very one sided.

All promoted by the State, and radio and TV stations have to carry the ads as a “public service”.

Very nasty. The whole FCC should be eliminated, except for keeping track of spectrum property rights, just like we keep track of real estate.

I quit giving to the United Way back in 1982.

United Way has always been a fundraising entity for left-wing causes.

So they are going to spend Saturday night’s on any given Martin Luther King Blvd handing out pamphlets? Didn’t think so.

Despite a lot of pressure from the bosses.

Back around 1969, where I worked it was absolutely mandatory -- under threat of getting sh*tcanned on the spot if you tried to refuse.

Good for you. If they aren’t directly affecting the education process, they sure as hell don’t need reserved parking.

Ahhhhh.... the usual 2nd Amendment-hating leftists’ use of the anthropomorphized “gun violence,” which is as meaningless as “rock violence” “knife violence,” “baseball bat violence,” “cliff violence,” etc.

Yeah, me too. Until I found out once they determined the fund I choose was, well, full. They’d move the funds to where they deemed fit. Not to mention the salaries of the execs.. The Salvation Army transfers over 90% to the intended. St. Jude Hospital helps our kids.. Just Say’in.

I was the UW campaign guy in our office for a few years in the early 1980's. Then I got to sit on the United Way allocations committee for our area. We were deciding which local charities should receive funds.

The allocations committee and process were incredibly skewed to liberal causes. I swore after seeing the allocations process I would never give to the United Way again. If fact, I became an ardent opponent of the United Way as their biases became ever worse.

I now regard the United Way as an evil arm of the Democrat Party.

“I now regard the United Way as an evil arm of the Democrat Party.”

You are exactly correct. And we are completely lied to about it. The extent to which we have been lied to and fooled is enormous.

Yup. I know there’s a “charity tracker” site that breaks down the charities cost to donations percentages but can’t find if just now. Some people may think they’re doing a good thing but may be just lining managements pockets.

I would hope the first thing they do is to open an initiative in Chicago to curb black-on-black violence in general.

The fact that they are not doing anything of the sort tells me all that I need to know.

Every federal employee has participated in giving to The United Way, as part of their Combined Federal Contribution Campaign.

So, as of right now, every federal employee is complicit in monkeying with YOUR 2A RIGHTS!!!

I had a district manager who coerced every manager under him to donate 1% of gross earnings to United Way so he could brag about his wonderful leadership skills.
