The Sheldon Adelson-backed group that is trying to outlaw online poker in America has brought on former Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott (R-MS) and former Sen. John Breaux (D-LA) to help lobby for the ban, according to reporting from The Hill.
(SNIP)
Grahamâs legislation is co-sponsored by Senators Kelly Ayotte (R-NH), Dan Coats (R-IN), Mike Lee (R-UT), Marco Rubio (R-FL), Thom Tillis (R-NC) and Dianne Feinstein (D-CA).
Well I’m glad all our other problems are solved now that we can turn our attention to that evil scourge known as Online Poker.
Sheldon Adelson cares about family values and the evil vice of online gambling.
DILLIGAF about Online Poker when islam, Dindus and illegals are stealing the American dream?
I didn’t think so.
Why is Mike Lee involved in this horse****?
Yet lotteries abound. Not to mention casinos and OTB for every sport known to man. ;-)
Well, when the lobbying for the ban comes from a casino owner, my radar gets set of a bit.
We lost big in 2006 in part because of the online gambling ban that turned out to be a deciding factor in some close races. Not the hill I would die on. Mr. Adelson should pick another cause.
That’s right, can’t cut into the government’s monopoly can we?
What about the evil vice of State Lotteries?
Just like Tony Soprano wanting his cut, the Feds want theirs.
The Feds want it under the table handed to them by K Street Lobbyist.
Until Congress gets their entitled cuts, online gambling will be illegal.
Old article, but a serious waste of time. Note that Marco “Gang-of-Eight” Rubio is also a sponsor.
National Priorities for 2016:
Outlawing:
1. Online Poker
2. Fantasy Football
Lowest priority: controlling the flow of fanatical Muslims flowing into the country with stated intent to kill as many Americans as possible.
my one concern with online poker type sites...
is...
how do we prevent them from cheating?
at least at a casino you can watch the dealer...
Competition.
Are you kidding?? You can serious say that a casino owner cares about family values and online gambling. What it cuts into his casino visitors. I would rather we concentrate on the evils our government is imposing on us. At least gambling is something one chooses to do not is forced to do.
‘competition’ sounds very good
but
when a lot of money is at stake...
and the dealing of the cards is out of sight...
well.....
Gee, I wonder if money has something to do with it?
Gambling is against family values, unless of course, you stay at the Venetian or Palazzo, spend $8 water bottle or $20 mini-vodkas out of the mini-bar in the room, eat at Mario Batali’s (over $250 pp) or take in a very expensive show.
And when you buy a stock, you’re betting that the price goes up. Wall Street is the world’s biggest casino.

That is true and Sheldon Adelson is really an amazing business man whose stock almost went to zero in 2009.
I feel a little bad making fun of Sheldon Adelson and Miriam because they are in reality, pretty nice people. I met them and their kids in their home for a Romney fundraiser in October 2012. An entertaining fundraiser packed with Italians, Jews and Mormons.
